It has been announced that Mercury Marine has introduced a 600 Horsepower V-12 outboard motor. They seem to have come along way from the Johnson 3HP I learned on. I am not sure where this outboard motor thing is going but it is going there fast. Is seems like only a few years ago, the outboard might just be going away in favor of new lightweight high horsepower diesels. But now having only four on the back of your boat seems like entry level. So having a high end Center con...sole with a transome full of outboard motors, and a diesel generator to supply power to a seakeeper has notched the cost up to another plateau. I just hope we can convince enough young people eyeing college and the debt that comes with it, to consider a career in the trades. Take some business classes at the local Junior college and go make a great living ! Boat smart and boat safe, but just keep boating ! https://i7.t.hubspotemail.net//VW4j277Bj4YsN4_CMxb1kb62W1Y

If your out looking at boats, ask questions ! I was scheduled to survey Large vessel this week, when i found out the boat recently had a huge Corona virus outbreak while fishing in magbay: This was played down to a single possible exposure. When i brought up what i had heard they took the assignment away ! Then I recalled this 42 CFR... 71.21 Report of death or illness. (a) The master of a ship destined for a U.S. port shall report immediately to the quarantine station at or nearest the port at which the ship will arrive, the occurrence, on board, of any death or any ill person among passengers or crew (including those who have disembarked or have been removed) during the 15-day period preceding the date of expected arrival or during the period since departure from a U.S. port (whichever period of time is shorter). (b) The commander of an aircraft destined for a U.S. airport shall report immediately to the quarantine station at or nearest the airport at which the aircraft will arrive, the occurrence, on board, of any death or ill person among passengers or crew. (c) In addition to paragraph (a) of this section, the master of a ship carrying 13 or more passengers must report 24 hours before arrival the number of cases (including zero) of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) in passengers and crew recorded in the ship's medical log during the current cruise. All cases of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) that occur after the 24 hour report must also be reported not less than 4 hours before arrival. Maybe they did not report !

We feel fortunate to survey some of the nicest yachts in the world. But building friendships with the owners an or crew is the ultimate reward. One of our all time favorites Capt Jeff Richardson on the 86’ Weaver Cowboy sent us these video clips from the dredge camera

The great weather in So Cal brought out the boaters this weekend There was a lot of questionable social distancing going on. Be safe, respect others and lets just hope that sunshine and saltwater does cure all.
