With low back pain - Move better, move more, improve mental state if necessary. Painkillers, rest, injections and surgery are very likely not the answer and can even make the situation worse. In regards to low back pain, treatment should be "management with initial non-pharmacological treatment, including education that supports self-management and resumption of normal activities and exercise, and psychological programmes for those with persistent symptoms."... "However, globally, gaps between evidence and practice exist, with limited use of recommended first-line treatments and inappropriately high use of imaging, rest, opioids, spinal injections, and surgery. Doing more of the same will not reduce back-related disability or its long-term consequences."

Yesterday was my fifth year going up to Sacramento with @calchiropractic for our Legislative Day. It was not only the most successful lobby day I've attended -- it was also the most fun . Chiropractors from all over the state came together in support of our sponsored legislation - AB 888 (Low) - WHICH successfully passed out of Assembly Business & Professions Committee yesterday with a 17 - 0 vote. AB 888, seeks to reduce the over-reliance on prescription opioids b...y integrating nonpharmacological treatments to pain management care plans and, most importantly, ensures that patients are making well informed decisions before an opioid is prescribed. If you aren't a California Chiropractic Association member, IT'S TIME! THANK YOU to @majorityleaderiancalderon who took the time to listen to us and for appreciating the importance of the opioid epidemic. I also appreciate your willingness to share some of your personal stories. Let me know if you want help with your golf game . THANK YOU to @senatorbobarchuleta who also took the time to listen to us. After all the positive comments I've heard about you from my patients, it was nice to finally meet you. A HUGE thank you to @aimhighgetlow for sponsoring AB 888 and for understanding how important the opioid problem truly is. Great to see so many good friends too . Great day. @ California State Capitol

I had so much fun teaching last night in Orange County! It makes me happy to be able to share some of what I have learned in the sports performance world to DCs. Hopefully everyone at the class learned something that they can use in practice today. It was great to see some good friends too. I love being a chiropractor.
