My job is to speak for you. While you could be excited about your right to free speech, please don't let it ruin your right against self-incrimination. Best response to police after handing over your ID is, "Am I free to go?" If you are free, walk away. If you aren't free, ask for a lawyer and tell them you have nothing to say until your attorney gets there. I have stopped interrogations in the middle of the night--it's the best and easiest defense. But once you speak, it's almost impossible to take it back.
