The shape of the church has dramatically changed. It feels like everything we thought about life, spirituality, and church has been altered or brought into question. And in the west, the Gospel of Jesus has often been replaced for an American Gospel fashioned in the form of one’s political allegiance rendering the church irrelevant. What is the future of the church? How do we return to God's design for His Church? If we are going to answer these questions we must go back to... the first followers of Jesus and rediscover what the church was intended to be? And how this mostly Jewish Jerusalem-based community became a multi-ethnic international movement that changed the world as we know it. It has always been a sweet time for the women in our church to be challenged and encouraged, linking arms with other churches; but as with everything right now -- it looks a little different this year. What is taking place in the capital today is absolutely heartbreaking and must move us to our knees in prayer. As Christians, I believe we can all agree this is extremely troubling, deeply saddening, and flat-out evil. This is not the way forward. Anger, hate, retribution, retaliation are not the way of Jesus.

How do you hit the reset button on your life?

For many in our country, the last few days have felt like holding your breath. Constantly checking your phone, media, checking in with friends, and trying to patiently wait for answers and results. . . In this moment as the church we want to take a moment to pause and take a breath with you. Friend, you have a High Priest who presently intercedes for you and laments with you. When you don’t know what to pray, the Holy Spirit prays for you. He’s never left, He never will.... . . In this moment, our prayer is that amidst everything you might be feeling, you’d know you’re not alone and that Jesus empathizes with you more than any person ever could. Take His yoke upon you and keep breathing. We’re in this together. . . Psalm 56:8: You have kept count of my tossings; and put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?

On August 28, 1963, during the March on Washington, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered one of the most iconic speeches in American history. The I Have a Dream speech was a defining moment in the civil rights era and continues to be a source of inspiration to millions today. In 1963, Dr. King called for an end to racism in America through equality, freedom, and justice for all. 52 years later, the dream of Dr. King is yet to be realized. With sweeping inequity in... the economic, healthcare, and criminal justice systems, and the continued brutalization of Black and Brown people, it is time for a revival of Dr. King’s vision for this country. Join Faith & Prejudice as we listen and learn from Dr. King’s confidant, personal attorney, and speech writer, Dr. Clarence Jones.
