For Throwback Thursday We’re reaching into history to find someone not mentioned often, one whose aviation career started while Amelia Earhart was still a teen. While her aviation career was short it was far from boring! Lillian Bland designed and built her own glider that she called Mayfly, because as she said at the time, it may fly, may not. When flight proved successful, she added an engine to Mayfly. Her concerned family offered her a brand-new car if she gave up aviation. She decided to donate the Mayfly to a local boys’ club and start on her next adventure by teaching herself to drive and then running the first Ford dealership in Northern Ireland. https://bit.ly/2WgCN3s
