Tomorrow marks EIGHT years since I opened the doors to Autumn Houston the Salon. Of all of the ups and downs owning a business brings, nothing has shocked my business more than COVID-19. My company has survived & thrived through so many obstacles, including one that left us salon less for months. Who remembers that oneI have always kept my head high & worked tirelessly to keep a peaceful space for my artists to build their clienteles. I have had three stylists start at my... salon with little to no clientele & leave my salon to open their own. I have always been a huge cheerleader to my team growing & making something of their own. I couldn't be more proud of the business that I have built & created. It kills me to see our doors closed on our 8 year anniversary. I find it completely ludicrous that we were forced to close our doors AGAIN. This is not about a virus or to slow the spread for 15 days. California is the only state that salons are closed. I have seen multiple well known salons close their doors permanently & that breaks my heart. Our government has really left us with no choice. I am choosing to not charge my staff their Booth Rent & I am assisting them in any way that I physically can while I am bleeding out financially as I am still required to pay all of my rent & expenses. There is a reason that my fellow salon owners & I are going to make it through this. It takes a lot of strength to open a salon & that same strength keeps us move now each day. See more

My dear friend @hayhampz_ lost her baby boy Connor last week after a complicated delivery. Hayley worked at my salon as an assistant and also recently came back as a stylist. As a mother, I can’t fathom the thought of losing a child and I can’t imagine the pain she is in. She is so strong and spoke so well in front of all of her friends and family today.
