Before going to law school I did not know, or know of, a Latina lawyer. Much less one that had their own law practice. Now I am recognized as Solo Attorney of the Month by the Orange County Attorney Journals for my work providing access to immigration law with dignity. I want y...ou to know, and share this - because "if you can see it, you can be it." It may be your dream to own your own business or something else. I want you to know that you reach your goals one step at a time, when no one is watching. Como estudiante de derecho, soñaba con convertirme en abogado algún día para poder representar a personas que podrían usar a alguien de su lado. Antes de ir a la escuela de derecho, no conocía ni conocía de ninguna abogada latina. Mucho menos una que tenía su propia práctica jurídica. Ahora soy reconocida como "Abogado Solitaria del Mes" por la Revista de Abogados del Condado de Orange por mi trabajo proporcionando acceso a la ley de inmigración con dignidad. Quiero que sepas y compartas esto, porque "si puedes verlo, puedes serlo." Puede ser su sueño tener su propio negocio o algo más. Hoy conseguimos un permiso de viaje de emergencia, conocido como "advanced parole" para nuestro cliente que tiene DACA. Fue un proceso de 10 dias. Durante la administracion de Obama podiamos hacerlo en un dia, pero bueno, agradecidos porque sigue este permiso de nuevo.

Today and tomorrow we make ofrendas with the belief that our loved ones will come and visit us in this world. It is a beautiful tradition where we honor the memory of those that have passed. As an immigration attorney I personally hear from people that lose their parents or other loved ones and are unable to go say their final goodbyes in person. It is another grief beyond the loss of their loved one - I hear from people all of the time and have to tell them that there is... no way of leaving for a funeral and safely come back to their kids. We see that folks that have made the US their home for decades DREAM of fixing their papers before they die but administration after administration is unwilling to provide millions with a path to legalization. This is why we need humane leaders. This year I make an ofrenda and my vote dedication to a personal hero of mine, the Notorious RBG. Because of her fight for women's rights, we are a better country, and I as a woman have benefitted. She also was an advocate for immigrants and at a Citizenship ceremony stated, "We are a nation made strong by people like you: people who travelled long distances, overcame great obstacles and made tremendous sacrifices, all to provide a better life for themselves and their families." May she Rest In Power and guide us through the coming election. See more
