Today I saw a story on a hair stylist who suffered a spinal injury during her cosmo schooling. She went on to win a @thebtcshows award this year, and it gave me a strong feeling of gratitude and love for my career. As most of you know, I broke my back when I was 22. It didn't just affect me physically. I was emotionally broken from it for many years. I still struggle some days with pain, and admittedly feel sorry for myself some days. But that story reminded me to take a mom...ent to think about what I'm grateful for. My strongest memories of my childhood was my love for art. It made me feel talented, in control of something and proud of my work. Throughout my life when people would ask "what do you want to be when I grow up?", my answers changed with age, but it was always geared towards art. A cartoon artist, a graphic designer, a painter, tattoo artists, every few years it was a different answer. I would have never guessed I would end up being a hair stylist, and if you told me in middle school that I was going to be a hair stylist, I would have been disappointed. But now here I am, being more artistic than I could have imagined, as a creative color hair stylist. I couldn't ask for anything more. I pay my own bills, take myself on vacations, afford all my hobbies, all Thanks to my core passion, art. But I get so much more from this job than I ever could as a cartoonist, or painter. I also get to be a friend and support system to so many of you. Thanks for supporting me for almost 19 years. Ive seen many of you grow up, go through loss, success, love and heartbreak. Art brought us together and I'm super grateful for every bit of that. Thanks for helping my dream come true you guys! From the bottom of my heart I love you all
