SIGNING TIME!!! This Wednesday from noon to 4:00, come meet Jalisco writer Kayden Phoenix as she debuts her new graphic novel SANTA! Taking place in the same universe as JALISCO, SANTA definitely is a book for the times in which we are living! ... Synopsis: Santa lives in Wexo, a made-up bordertown in Texas. With elections coming up, the tension rises as the conservative frontrunner, Illena Chavez-Estevez, AKA ICE, wants to start a race war in the town. On the Domino side, we have La Politica running. Comadre, the mentor and veteran, ends up recruiting Santa for La Politica's campaign and as the racial tensions rise in the town, Santa learns what it means to be patriotic while harnessing her Mom’s military past. When civilians start getting stolen, Santa finds her voice and strength to raid the detention camps and take down ICE. See you there!!!

ATOMIC BASEMENT DELIVERS! When I’m not running the shop in Long Beach (Wednesday thru Saturday noon to seven every week), it’s always fun to deliver to old friends in the South Bay! I live here in Redondo Beach and service Torrance, Redondo, Hermosa, Hawthorne, Manhattan Beach and anywhere within a 20 mile radius! ... It’s so nice to see some old friends and I really appreciate all of the support you folks are sending my way! I can’t wait until these days are a distant memory and we can just congregate at the shop like the good old days!

On August 28, we lost Chadwick Boseman to colon cancer. He kept his battle a secret and lived a very dignified life. He was a hero to many and a very overdue addition to the Marvel Universe as T’Challa/Black Panther. This month, in issue #311 of Spawn, Todd McFarlane drew an awesome tribute to Mr. Boseman for its variant cover. Atomic Basement is donating 20% of all sales from Spawn #311 to City of Hope, an organization that specializes in cancer research, treatment and pre...vention. For Chadwick. Congrats to Jeffrey Nutell for completing another 24 Hour Comic Book!! Quirky, clever and funny! The cue word this year was REBIRTH and he incorporated it brilliantly into his tale that he whipped up overnight at Atomic Basement! Rest up, young man!!

We have the last batch of Free Comic Book Day releases and even managed to snag a few of the commemorative posters of the day that never was by artist Jeffrey Brown. The comics are free, the poster is $9.99.... We’ve made a few buys this month which means we have lots of new stuff to offer for STEPHANIE’S SUPER SIDEWALK SALE!!! Over 2,500 comics to choose from for only one dollar each! It’s also ATOMIC BASEMENT PRIDE DAY! We’ve made a few items in which you can display your pride... t-shirts, buttons, face masks...
