Out on a call today: Dealt with wasps in the eaves of a Burbank Home where the Homeowner had been stung. Common occurence when these guys make home near a walk way or in this case a driveway where they sense us walking and want to investigate, instinctually we will swat at them possibly posing a threat, and they sting! ... Simple spraying the nesting area to discourage returning foragers and removal of (5) live nests got the job done. Hopefully no more incidents but, we are only a phone call away. Stay Bug Free!

What to look for if you think you have Bed Bugs: 1. How often have you noticed bites? (If any) Bed Bugs bite consistently, if you have bites once in a while it is possible you are exposing yourself to other insects throughout your day that can bite. 2. Are the bites in a line? Bed Bugs tend to bite 3 or more times almost in a straight line.... 3. Check your bed sheets for small stains/streaks of blood. While being asleep we roll and move and, when a Bed Bug is full of blood, they are easily crushed and squished creating these stains. Using white or light colored sheets will help reveal such stains. 4. The bite itself can help identify the insect but can be difficult to differentiate as different peoples skin have different reactions to bites. The Bed Bug bite won't be a small concentrated point, it will have an insertion point and a reddish ring around it like a bull's eye. 5. Have you seen any bugs? The Bed Bugs, although small, are not invisible. They are light and translucent when young and get bigger and dark red almost black once they have fed. If you see an insect and don't immediately recognize it try grabbing it and looking up a picture of a Bed Bug. Once confirmed, call a professional. Last but not least, if ever in doubt, call a professional. Inspections from Astro are free and easy to book. Pest Tip: Sometimes controlling invading insects, starts with keeping them out in the first place. Everything from ants to rodents can find a way in to your home and they don't just teleport in. Ants typically come from an exterior crack, maybe in stucco, and you don't need a contractor for the fix. Clear silicone caulking can be enough to seal the crack and keep ants and other invaders out. For rodents, 1/4" mesh is the material used to repair vents around the foundation of ...the home which tend to be broken by plumbing or cables going in to foundation. Use these tips to minimize activity but if they still find a way in, we are a phone call away!

Fumigation is a method of using a lethal gas to exterminate pests within an enclosed space.... Can you fumigate for bed bugs? Yes. What gas is used for termite fumigation? Vikane (Sulfuryl Fluordie-Chloropicrin warning agent) What does fumigation kill? A fumigation will kill most pests in your home. However, Vikane is labeled for insects, other than Drywood Termites, but each insect requires a different dosage of Vikane. Depending on what the target insect is that we are fumigating for, will determine which insect is eradicated. Is Vikane gas flammable? Vikane is a colorless, odorless gas that is nondetectable by people during fumigation, as well as non-staining, non-corrosive and non-flammable. As a gas, Vikane dissipates into the atmosphere and does not deplete the ozone.
