UK Children’s TV presenter Gemma Hunt fronts show about SAT-7’s Middle East ministry - London, England (ANS) - Children’s TV presenter Gemma Hunt is fronting a special programme for UK audiences about SAT-7’s television ministry in the Middle East, according to a press release from the broadcasters. In Free to Be Me UK Gemma and SAT-7 Lebanese children's presenter Marianne Awaraji discuss their shared vision for television that gives children joy and helps them reach their fu...ll potential. Both also share how their Christian faith inspires their broadcasting careers. As a mum and someone who works with children in media, I think it’s really crucial to help children reach their potential and find real joy, Gemma says in the programme. All over the world families are finding life really difficult, she continues. But, in the Middle East, she says, Even before the pandemic, conflicts, uprisings and poverty prevented children from learning and flourishing. Marianne joined Gemma via video link from SAT-7’s largest studio, in Beirut, Lebanon, as she finished the last song on her weekly, live children’s show, Allo Marianne. Sitting in SAT-7’s London studio, Gemma spoke to her in the aftermath of Lebanon’s COVID-19 lockdown and the devastating explosion in Beirut’s port. Free to Be Me highlights how broadcasts like Marianne’s programme support children both spiritually and emotionally to grow in faith and flourish as the people God made them to be. In Free to Be Me both TV presenters explain how faith influences their work. Marianne, serving a Christian channel, shares how coming to know God as Father and a really close friend as a 14-year-old inspires her to encourage her viewers to relate to God in the same way. Gemma, working in media where she cannot generally talk about her faith openly, points to a prophetic word spoken over her when she was 16. This said that she would be salt and light in the media. So now, she says, I know that Jesus and His light is shining out of me in the places I am working, which is pretty awesome! The Free to Be Me programme can be watched in a 12-minute and 25-minute versions at www.sat7uk.org/freetobemefilm

Grace: The Greatest Gift of All - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faithand this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of Godnot by works, so that no one can boastEphesians 2:8-9 (NIV). When someone gives you an unexpected gift, how do you react? For example, if someone blesses me with a Christmas present, and I have nothing for them in return, I feel the need to reciprocate. I apologize and then rush to purchase a gift in return. At least that’s what I d...Continue reading

Gospel for Asia Helps Release Thousands from COVID-19 ‘Jaws of Hunger’ - Wills Point, USA (ANS) - Hunger relief efforts led by two Texas-based organizations are helping thousands of families in Texas struggling with COVID-19 hardships. Humanitarian agency Gospel for Asia (GFA World, www.gfa.org) -- a faith-based organization headquartered in Wills Point, 50 miles east of Dallas has rushed to help starving people on the other side of the world as the pandemic spreads. But af...ter the coronavirus hit hard in its own backyard, GFA World jumped into action to help its Texas neighbors, too. The organization -- partnering with Texas-based ministry Body of Life -- is helping to feed hundreds of Texas families every month by distributing Farmers to Families fresh produce boxes. Every month, more than a thousand Farmers to Families boxes -- supplied by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) -- are being handed out to Texans in need at GFA World’s Wills Point campus. The organization’s Texas hunger response has caught the attention of local leaders. Mayrani Velazquez, a member of Terrell City Council, described the COVID-19 food relief as a blessing, adding: We’re all grateful for GFA World’s willingness to host these events. Help, Hope for the Hurting Our desire is to bring help for today and hope for tomorrow wherever we are, said K.P. Yohannan, founder of GFA World that’s also feeding hundreds of thousands across Asia in the throes of the pandemic. In Asia -- the world’s most populated continent, home to six out of every 10 people on earth -- many families face starvation as COVID-19 has shuttered factories and other businesses, leaving desperate parents with no income or safety net. Thousands more would be in dire straits without grassroots food relief efforts, led by local churches. One aid recipient said: I will never forget such an act of kindness in my life. Out of the Jaws of Hunger The organization’s Bridge of Hope program and local church-run efforts in Asia continue to release thousands from the jaws of hunger -- children like Samsundar, an orphan, and Sunita, whose mother hasn’t been able to work for months. Aid packages -- including rice, cooking oil, salt, and other essentials -- have been a lifeline for nearly 200,000 people, including children. In northeast India’s tea-growing region of Assam, GFA World workers are delivering aid in the midst of a double disaster -- COVID-19 and devastating floods. They use homemade paddleboards to get around their rain-lashed communities, where some churches are under several feet of floodwater. In one area, church members also gave out face masks. In India’s densely populated West Bengal region, people are calling the church-led relief effort a godsend. It’s as if the Lord suddenly sent manna from above, one parent said.

UK National Prayer Week on Biblical Truth in Society reaches more than half a million people - London, England (ANS) - As the UK continues to be hit hard by the global Covid-19 pandemic Leading The Way and Neighbourhood Prayer Network joined forces for a national week of prayer October 11-17 calling for a return to Biblical Truth in the nation. The centrepiece was a video message to the UK church, specifically recorded by Dr Michael Youssef, President of Leading The Way. Spea...king from Daniel Chapter 9, his timely and relevant message helped to guide people’s prayers. More than half a million people were reached in the week through social media and YouTube, which included special ‘in conversation’ programmes, speaking to different areas of society. Guests contributing included Gavin Calver, CEO of the Evangelical Alliance, the Rt Revd Philip Mountstephen, Bishop of Truro, Mervyn Thomas, Founder and President of Christian Solidarity Worldwide, David L’Herroux, CEO of United Christian Broadcasters, Peter Kerridge, CEO of Premier Christian Media Group, Dr Sharon Dirckx from the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics, and Sir Brian Souter, Founder and Chairman of Stagecoach. Reflecting on the week Leading The Way UK Director Dr Alan Kerbey OBE said: Our partnership with Neighbourhood Prayer Network was a real meeting of hearts, minds and kingdom values. Both organisations hold a very high view of the importance of Biblical truth within key pillars of society, and of the importance prayer in turning our nation back to God's Word. In-depth conversations with leading figures from all areas of society, together with a powerful message to the UK church from Leading The Way President, Dr Michael Youssef, and a 'daily devotional' from Leading the Way UK Board member, Dr RT Kendall, provided a rich tapestry of thought-provoking resources. Most importantly this mobilized widespread prayer across the nation and engaged over 500,000 individuals through social media alone. Neighbourhood Prayer Network CEO Carl Brettle added: Neighbourhood Prayer Network creates kingdom focused partnerships to best serve Christians in their local area. Working with Leading the Way UK was a perfect example of such a partnership, which saw wonderful unity to promote and pray into Biblical truth in society. Prayer Week has seen some amazing responses from people who engaged with 60 hours of video content throughout the week. This response on social media was amazing. It was a privilege to partner with Leading the Way UK. Carl Brettle concluded: I'm grateful to everyone who contributed to the programme - including those who joined us for our daily zoom prayer meeting. We already have a date for Prayer Week in 2021. It is my prayer that the firm foundations of this Prayer Week will continue to bear much fruit and I look forward to working with Leading the Way UK in 2021. Victims of Easter bombings in Sri Lanka still waiting for justice - Witney, England (ANS) - Victims of the Easter bombings in Sri Lanka say they have had no justice 18 months after the attack which killed more than 250 people and injured hundreds more. Open Doors UK and Ireland, a charity which campaigns on behalf of persecuted Christians, says that as police investigations drag on, people are living with the effects of the attack. A service at Zion Church whose members are n...ow meeting in a temporary hall while their bombed building is being repaired. Tala Dela Cruz, an Open Doors spokesperson said: It is still so heart-breaking. Zion Church on the east coast of Sri Lanka lost 31 of its congregation all of whom were mothers, husbands, children, brothers and sisters to people. Eighty-six other people at the church were injured. People are still receiving medical treatment with operations and physiotherapy and one or two are paralysed. Zion is only one church out of the three that were bombed on that day. Many more died from the attacks at St Anthony’s shrine and St Sebastian’s Church and at the three hotels. These targeted attacks have brought so much pain. We are still praying for justice for the victims and healing for their families. Nine suicide bombers detonated their devices at the three churches and three luxury hotels, the Shangri-La, Kingsbury and Cinnamon Grand in Colombo on Easter Sunday last year. The multiple coordinated explosions shocked the world and caused outrage among the different ethnic and religious groups in Sri Lanka. Shortly afterwards, the country’s authorities said local militant group the National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ) were to blame. However, the Islamic State later claimed responsibility. In April this year, on the anniversary of the attack, Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said that while the church in Sri Lanka has "spiritually forgiven" the attackers, their supporters should still be brought to justice. According to local news reports this June, with 200 suspects in custody, police announced they were close to concluding the investigations into the Easter bombings. Now several suspects arrested in connection with the bombings have been released with the Government blaming a lack of evidence. The move prompted criticism from the Cardinal who said in a press conference on October 3: "It is sad and unfortunate that those who are alleged to have been involved in the attacks are released. Those who are affected physically and mentally wait for justice to be meted out, but it is unfortunate that the investigation is not going the way it should." On October 4 relatives of the victims of the Easter bombings protested in front of St Sebastian's Church, north of Colombo, demanding a fair and thorough investigation and for justice to be done.

When Your Burdens Are Too Heavy - Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you restMatthew 11:28 (NIV). In my late 60s, I’m not as strong as I used to be. However, through exercise, I’m working toward improving my physical strength. My exercise is not as intense as it once was. I’ve had to downsize the amount I can lift with my hand weights. I don’t want to injure my body by overdoing it. As we age, our bodies don’t bounce back as quick...Continue reading

Leading Covid vaccine candidates used aborted babies - Six out of eight candidates being fast tracked for a COVID-19 vaccine in America are unethically produced, using aborted baby parts in the development, production, or testing of the vaccines. There is a very high likelihood that the vaccine that will come out of Operation Warp Speed will be an unethical vaccine, says Sarah Quale, the president of Personhood Alliance education. They have used aborted fetal cell lines to... create them and many of them have used aborted fetal cell lines to test them, she notes. On October 13th, the Personhood Alliance released their Official Position on Vaccine Ethics after a two-month study by their state affiliates, including Catholics and evangelicals, which was then physician reviewed. The original children who were aborted and used for this purpose were killed in the 1970s, but now pharmaceutical companies and researchers are creating new cell lines from newly aborted children, Quale says. There are many common childhood vaccines and adult vaccines that have been produced and tested using the cells from aborted babies. Because of the rush to produce a Covid vaccine, Quale believes it is much easier for pharmaceutical companies to use the aborted baby cells they have previously been using. The vaccine candidates that have used aborted baby parts in the development, production, or testing include: AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Inovio, Vaxart, Phizer & BioNTech, among others listed here. There are remnants of the DNA of these aborted children in these vaccines, Quale reports, to the extent that the FDA had to release guidelines on how much is too much. MORE
