During the last month, the Fostering New Beginnings Committee was busy putting together baskets and buckets of household supplies for foster youths. Fostering New Beginnings works in conjunction with Aspiranet to provide grocery cards and basic household items to young adults leaving the foster care system and moving out on their own. It is because of the contributions of donors, Thrift Shop customers and grants that this is all possible. THANK YOU!

The Operation School Bell Basics Committee has been hard at work brainstorming on how to serve our school children community better during this pandemic. Operation School Bell Basics provides socks, underwear, and other basic items to students in the Cucamonga and Central School Districts.

Operation School Bell had all hands on deck during a recent meeting to stuff bags with high school supplies and hygiene products. Nina Jelinek, Operation School Bell Dressings Chair, and a group of volunteers stuffed 250 bags that were later delivered to both Upland High School and Chaffey Joint Union High School District. Kudos to Nina and her committee and to all the Assistance League volunteers!

Recently, 13 teens from Assisteens, the teen auxiliary to Assistance League of the Foothill Communities, met to make Thanksgiving cards for the residents of Coy Estes Senior Apartments in downtown Upland. The teens made 50 cards as part of the WeCare program and will be delivering them to the residents along with grocery cards to celebrate the holiday. Our Assisteens Auxiliary offers volunteer and leadership opportunities for students in grades 7th to 12th. If you would like more information, contact us at [email protected].
