Our first online Floral Fantasy was a big success! Thank you to everyone who attended, donated and worked so hard to bring the event into our homes. Members of the Los Gatos-Saratoga chapter and the National Resource Development Committee joined Assistance League of San Jose members to watch Bloomster’s owner, Kren Rasmussen, create six stunning arrangements and walk us through his store, offering hints to use at home. His arrangements are now gracing the homes of lucky winning raffle ticket holders. 200 members attended, a record number over our previous Floral Fantasy luncheons. Our Assist-A-Shelter program volunteers are busy providing home-made dinners and desserts to Family Supportive Housing (FSH) residents. FSH serves local families in need of housing by providing shelter and counseling services. These AL of San Jose volunteers had a great time stuffing 50 Halloween goodie bags for Family Supportive Housing (FSH). The goodies included snacks, pencils, erasers, notepads, and spooky rings. Assistance League of San Jose continues to support Family Supportive Housing (FSH) and House of Grace (CityTeam) through our Assist-A -Shelter program. This month, hard working volunteers made and delivered 20 dozen cookies and approximately 60 dinners to the families at FSH. Readers Are Leaders team members are busy preparing books for the schools and teachers. Lucy’s Mask is going to first and second graders and School is Different Now is going to 3rd and 4th graders. These books will be sent with enrichment activities children can do at home. We hope they will enjoy them. #assistanceleagueofsanjose

Although Assistance League of San Jose volunteers cannot enter Family Supportive Housing (FSH) at this time, we continue to support this family shelter through our Friday Night Dinner program. Our volunteers provide and deliver home-cooked dinners and desserts. FSH provides vital housing and support services to guide families from crisis to independent lives in our community. Assistance League of San Jose is committed to finding alternative ways to support our essential community services in these challenging times. The volunteer bakers at Assistance League of San Jose baked 480 cookies this week! After baking, these ladies delivered their goodies to Family Supportive Housing, a local shelter. Due to COVID-19, ALSJ volunteers can no longer enter the Stonebrook Health and Rehab Facility to conduct monthly Bingo games. This week our Stonebrook volunteers, including three new members, met in a park to put together 35 goody bags for the residents. Then three volunteers delivered them to the facility. We may not be able to see the joy on the residents’ faces when they win Bingo prizes, but we know that receiving the bags full of handmade lap blankets (by Caring Hands), ALSJ stuffed bears, and puzzle books with pencils will put smiles on their faces!#stonebrooklife

Assistance League of San Jose was excited to sponsor this special petting zoo that came to the Family Supportive Housing (FSH) shelter. The children were thrilled to be able to get up close and interact with a variety of animals. Even though our volunteers couldn’t be there personally as in previous years, these pictures are sure to warm hearts.
