I love postpartum follow up visits with my birth clients! One aspect of these visits is taking time to process and talk through the birth experience if mom feels comfortable doing so. Having someone listen to and validate your feelings around your birth good or bad can help you settle into the fourth trimester and motherhood.

Hi! I am Asia, The Birth Partner. I am a birth and postpartum doula serving Orange County, California and beyond. I started my journey as a birth doula in 2016 and received my training through @donaintl by the amazing @songbirdmaternity ... After seeing the need for on-going support from my birth clients I made the decision to obtain additional training through @doulasofaustin and become a postpartum doula at the beginning of 2018. I have seen all kinds of births and all kinds of families. I find so much joy in empowering parents during the special season of bringing a new little one into their family. I am currently booking clients for 2021. DM me or visit my website to connect about my services! *special thanks to @shastinmedoraphoto for the quarantine porch photo! #thebirthpartner #doula #orangecountydoula #birthdoula #csection #postpartumdoula #love #baby #mama #birth #family #support #pregancy #motherhood #family #dad #parenthood #laboranddelivery #doulasofnorthamerica #motherhood #longdistancedoula #postpartum #fourthtrimester #huntingtonbeach #costamesa #newportbeach

Asia Rikard was my amazing doula! My husband Justin and I feel immense gratitude for the role she played in the birth of our first child. I was in labor for 27 hours, and Asia stood by my side that entire time. Not only that, her attitude was unwaveringly calm, positive, and compassionate. She coached me, encouraged me, advocated on my behalf, and truly became family in the labor and delivery room. Asia also helped us interpret some of what the hospital staff would sugge...st and decide how we wanted to respond. Her knowledge and expertise brought comfort to us and alleviated stress and uncertainty. I had a detailed birth plan that ultimately needed some adjustments when complications arose. Asia navigated the changing situation beautifully as a poised and compassionate professional. She also worked incredibly well with our lead nurse, and together they actually helped our baby turn the right direction during labor using natural, non-invasive techniques that we wouldn’t have benefited from - or even known about - without her. It was a miraculous feat. I cannot (and don't want to!) imagine what my experience would have been like without Asia. -Katherine C

[Why a Daytime Doula?] You know those times when baby just won't let you put them down, but the dishes are piling up, you're feeling anxious, and you KNOW you n...eed a shower? It's like your baby doesn't even CARE that you spent all that effort picking out the perfect playmat to put them down on... When babies come, it's challenging for every member of the family! >> Having in-home support is a game-changer for new parents, because who doesn't want more sleep, a tidy home, and help with meals - not to mention, expert advice from a professional in baby care and new-parent support!? While a lot of postpartum doulas specialize in overnights (to help you get more sleep), I really prefer doing daytime support. I love connecting with new families in real time, offering practical support as well as on-the-spot education. I might hold baby while you shower, nap or cook - or perhaps what you really want is some adult conversation while baby gets fed! I'm a good listener, too - and I love hearing the stories that new parents tell. I'll also help you feel more confident as a parent. I'll show you all my "trade secrets" for soothing fussy babies...including how to get a swaddle to stay put, and my best tip for fast + easy diaper changes! If there's time, I may throw in a load of laundry, or prep a healthy snack and tidy up the kitchen - but I'm primarily here to support you and baby. During these strange times, I am only supporting one family at a time...and this may be for as little as a week or two, or for 6+ months. A typical daytime doula will stay for 3-6 hours at a time, for any number of days per week. Often, we end up feeling like cherished friends as your baby grows! If you're pregnant, don't wait until you're overwhelmed and exhausted - make a plan NOW to hire a postpartum doula. I work with Austin Baby Guru- who sets a gold standard in postpartum care as well as parenting classes.
