Dear Friends, The San Diego Chapter of the Iranian American Bar Association is organizing a charity soccer tournament that will be held on Saturday, July 22nd, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Pacific Beach. Our goal is to raise $15,000. In order to meet this goal, we are asking for sponsorships from local businesses and individuals such as yourself. The proceeds of this tournament will go to YALLA, a non-profit organization that helps refugee and immigrant youth rebuild their ...lives with education and soccer. Mark Kabban, the founder of YALLA, was named as an International Hero by CNN Heros for founding YALLA. It is a wonderful organization and you can learn more about YALLA at their website www.yallasd.org We currently have several other diversity bar associations co-hosting this event! Each bar association will be organizing teams, but the event is open to non-attorneys and we are encouraging everyone to invite family, friends, and co-workers to create a team. Each team member will get a player shirt that will list the Title, Gold and Silver sponsors for the event. Here are the sponsorship levels for the event: Title Sponsorship -- $2,500 donation Business Name/Logo on the front of player shirts; Space provided at the event to set up a booth; Recognition as a Title Sponsor on all promotional materials; and Six free players for the tournament. Important information to share with friends and family: 1. Permanent residents: Carry your green card with you at all times. Keep a photocopy of your green card in a safe place at home. 2. Lawfully present nonimmigrants (e.g. students, H1Bs, etc.): Carry with you at all times your EAD, I-94 card, passport with entry stamp, or other proof of lawful presence. Carry the original with you and keep a photocopy in a safe place at home.... 3. Naturalized US citizens: Carry your US passport or a photocopy of your naturalization certificate. Keep a photocopy in a safe place at home. 4. Unlawfully present immigrants here more than two years: Keep with you at all times evidence that you have been present for at least two years. Such evidence might include utility bills with your name going back two years, pay stubs with your name going back two years, or other documentation going back at least two years. Keep a photocopy at home. Have a plan in place with your loved ones for what happens if you don't come home one day. Do not presume you will get a phone call. 5. Unlawfully present immigrants here less than two years: Have a plan in place with your loved ones for what happens if you don't come home one day, e.g. who picks up the kids from daycare, etc. Do not presume you will get a phone call.

Immigration lawyers around the country are now recommending that immigrants (especially those who are out of status or have no status) carry with them at all times either proof of lawful status in the US or physical documentary proof of continuous physical presence in the U.S. for the prior 2 years as that will help protect them against being subject to Expedited Removal. Expedited Removal is an immediate order without any further hearing, ...review, or opportunity to apply to stay in the United States unless the person expresses a fear of persecution, in which case he or she is afforded a credible fear interview to determine whether he or she may apply for asylum. Individuals subject to expedited removal generally are not informed of their right to counsel. Likewise, they are not provided a sufficient opportunity to contact counsel to help them challenge the charges against them or present evidence that is not with them at the time of apprehension. Don't carry proof of foreign citizenship, remember your right to remain silent and to request an attorney. ¡¡MUY IMPORTANTE!! ¡¡Comparta!!
