In order to help you remember and apply what you learned last weekend on the second Sunday of Advent, here are the links to the service and sermon. If you would like to watch the video of the entire service, you can find that here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TnoIRBSOVw If you would like to listen to the sermon audio only, you can find that here https://www.myascension.org//celebration-that-honors-the-s... God's richest blessings as you continue to prepare for his advent!
We have some exciting news for you! We are going to meet in-person for worship this coming Sunday. According to COVID regulations we can't meet inside, but we will meet outside in Ascension's courtyard. Because of the weather this time of year, we will switch worship to 10 A.M. so things are a little warmer. The Second Sunday of Advent traditionally presents the account of John the Baptizer. How can a camel-hair clothed, leather-belt wearing, locust and wild honey-eating preacher point us to Jesus? This weekend's message will help us be prepared to enjoy Christmas with a celebration that honors the Savior. If you are not able to join us in person, the service will be streamed live. All the information you need, including the online worship folder, can be found at www.myascension.org.
Happy Wednesday Everyone! A great way to absorb what we heard in worship this past week is to hear again what we heard during the service. Here are the links to last weekend's message: If you would like to watch a video of the whole service you can find it here:... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0qXxKAL9m8 If you would like to listen to the audio of the sermon only you can find it here: https://www.myascension.org/sermons//11/29/the-advent-flood God's blessings!
As of Sunday, we have entered into a new Church Year! Here is some information that will, hopefully, help you enjoy the season of Advent. What It Means: The word "advent" means "coming." Advent is designed to help us be ready to properly celebrate Christ's first advent at Christmas and to help us keep looking forward to Christ's second advent at the end of the world. The Color of Advent: The color for Advent is blue. Blue is the color of hope and it is the color of the sky we... look toward as we wait for Jesus to come back again. Advent Traditions: During Advent many churches have a wreath, with either four or five candles, in the worship space. Each week during the service, one of the candles is lit until all four are lit. The fifth candle is the Christ Candle. Some have it as part of the Advent wreath and some have it as a stand alone candle. The Christ Candle can be lit on Christmas Eve to mark the arrival of the Christ-child, who is the Light of the World. Jesus came for you and he is coming for you again! In him you have forgiveness for all your sins, new spiritual life, and the gift of eternal life. That's why he came! Happy Advent!
Happy New Year! I'm not jumping the gun quite as much as you probably think I am. This weekend we begin a new Church Year with the season of Advent. Advent is designed to help us prepare to properly celebrate Jesus' first coming and be ready for his second coming. I will add a little more information about the season in a post next week. In the meantime, we will be streaming worship on Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. as usual. All the information you need can be found on the front page of www.myascension.org. We hope you can join us. Happy Advent!
