Day 5 : Newest Make #marchmeethemaker prompts from @joannehawker One of my newest and favorite make is the elephant panel I made for a dear friend’s mother. It was so fun to work with her, it shows how well it turned out. ... Hearts of all sizes and designs are my current favorite things to make. They are for a fun project I’m working on and I can’t wait to share them with you #marchmeethemaker2021 #meetthemaker #johannehawker #meetthemakermarch #newestmake #elephantpanel #stainedglassart #fusedglassheart #potmelthearts #fusedlittlehearts #artsfromglass #glassartist #stainedglass #fusedglass #meetheartist

Day 4 - On your desk #marchmeethemaker prompts from @joannehawker I like to work on multiple projects at a time, I am presently foiling a project and have a repair on my other desk. I am lucky to have access to a glass studio where I have a fusing kiln and get to work on my fusing projects.... #marchmeethemaker2021 #meetthemaker #johannehawker #meetthemakermarch #onyourdesk #foilingstation #solderingstation #artsfromglass #glassartist #stainedglass #fusedglass #meetheartist

Day 3 : Beliefs and values #marchmeethemaker prompts from @joannehawker I believe in growing each day, learning something new and trying to be better everyday. I have been working with glass for a few years and have worked on numerous things but each time I take a new project I come out having learnt something new. ... I learn so much by being part of a great artist community on Instagram who have always been inspiring and engaging. I believe in reuse and repurpose. I recycle all my boxes, airbags, bubble wrap by using them for my orders. I have eliminated paper bags for my local pickups and use cotton bags which can be reused as well. I’m still a long way from being eco friendly but I hope to get there soon. #marchmeethemaker2021 #meetthemaker #johannehawker #meetthemakermarch #believeandvalue #reuseandrecycle #communityovercompetition #artsfromglass #glassartist #stainedglass #fusedglass #meetheartist

Day 2 : Style #marchmeethemaker prompts from @joannehawker I love working on things I see in nature and I am partial to brighter colors. I have not narrowed down to a particular style in my work yet, I do feel that it is still constantly evolving. ... I do love working on a theme collection. Last year, I worked on flowers during spring, bugs, butterflies, mushrooms and gnomes during summer. I did have fun doing seasonal work for a fall and Christmas collection. I do have new collections planned for the year ahead. #marchmeethemaker2021 #meetthemaker #johannehawker #meetthemakermarch #styleatwork #artsfromglass #glassartist #stainedglass #fusedglass #meetheartist

I'm happy to share we sold our collaboration piece "Sweet Summer" where I created select fused glass pieces and applied them over photographic prints made by my sister-in-law and photographer Parvathi Kumar @parvathikumarphotography This is the first time we've collaborated together and I’m glad we had this opportunity to try combining photography with fused glass elements! The nationally touring USPS Art Project is now being hosted in its fifth location @inliquidart by Park... Towne Place in Philadelphia, PA! About the project: The USPS Art Project is a mail-art artist collaboration project created by Christina Massey in April of 2020 as a way for artists to feel connected while practicing social distancing and supporting the USPS by sending and receiving packages. The goal is for unique collaborative artworks to be created, allowing the artists to establish deeper connections by working together, and, in doing so, support the USPS. Artists raise money for the USPS through the act of purchasing postage for shipping artworks to co-artists and galleries. How it began: The project began as a simple idea two artists partner up, each starting an artwork and sending it to the other to complete. These projects would be posted on social media with the hashtags #USPSARTPROJECT and #ARTISTSFORTHEUSPS. Christina Massey, the project’s founder, started by texting a single friend, then a small group of friends, and rather quickly, the project took off to where it is now. As of October 2020, there are over 1,000 artworks created in this manner since the project’s inception by hundreds of artists combining all media. This program is free and open to artists of all media to participate! #glassandphotography #fusedglassandphotos #jointart #uspsartproject
