Taking a week off has been fun buts it’s tough to take a full week if from all things art. I daughter ways to make it see art as much as possible. I really wanted to find a way to still work on my art. I was hoping there would be some downtime to allow for that. Our first hotel room didn’t have a desk luckily our sewer system failed and (after 36 hours and many trips to the hotel lobby to use the bathroom we were finally able to change rooms!) The amenities were actuall...y more dated but I didn’t care bc the new room had a desk and a working toilet of course ! Yay! I covered the desk with a poster board but didn’t bring paints. . . Here’s what I brought with me to do a little art this week: 5 already started 12x12 wooden panels, papers that I had painted previously with leftover paint collage papers with various patterns Scissors pencils posca paint markers Gloss medium Ceramic tools for scraping 1 wide Brush for applying gloss medium Small dish for water to soak papers I worked on two panels. I think I like what’s happening on this one so far. But still feel like I may need to paint some areas. I didn’t bring paint bc I did not want to deal with the mess in a hotel. Limiting myself this way really forced me out of my comfort zone and pushed me to take risks in a different way. Collage is just painting with paper. . Since I have a lot of new followers lately here’s some background. Many of you know while others may not know that We have a special needs boy Billy who is actually 19 years old. He loves making pictures! If you’ relucky you’ve received one of his drawings. He likes to make pictures and deliver them to neighbors or teachers. . Each year he participates in a competition through our school district called PTA Reflections. This year the theme was I will change the world... by then of course the students have to come up with a piece art that shows their answer. I actually teach a small art class for special needs kids which is really just Billy and two other students. Two weeks ago I asked them this question. I told them to come up with 3 answers to the question so they would have something to choose from. All three of Billys answers made it to his poster (22x28). . Billy will change the world by 1. getting rid of Covid-19. 2. No more trash 3. Tiger Woods, PGA Golfer, will keep on golfing. (Billy also drew in Tigers son and how far tiger hits the ball! ) . Billy did such a great job on his drawing I am so proud of him for putting so much time into it. Also FYI Billy did graduate Highschool last year but is in a program that is still a part of the school district so he got the approval to still participate. Every few days I would actually hear him on the phone (even late at night) and I would ask who he was talking to and he said it was Nancy from the Highschool who is in charge of the reflections contest! . I am realizing lately my feed has an interesting look to it does it even look like I am trying to sell art? Of course I am and I do but I really want my feed to show the reality of my life. . My son, Billy and I were able to take a last minute trip to Midway Utah to accompany my mother-in-law on a special trip. I painted my largest studio wall today to cover up all the ballon night splatters. Then decided I would see what it would look like with all my large paintings from the studio that were hanging or leaning against the wall.
