180 donations. Incredible! This year we did NOT set a goal for a total amount raised. Too many of us have lost income and had hope rattled in this pandemic. We felt uneasy putting that expectation into the world. We did make a goal though for total donors. We wanted to build our village. We dreamed big. 250 donations. One hundred more than last year. We are beyond moved to see our city rise to this challenge in a very hard time. As I type this, Sacramento has raised $8.4 mill...ion, besting last year's total and it's not even 5 pm. What does it say about Sacramento that in a time overloaded with unknowns and true fear, we stand for one another? We all dig into what we have- even though it's less than last year- and somehow it all adds up to enough. Not sure why I'm surprised. In our 20 years in this work, this city has shown up endlessly for Waking the Village so that we can show up for our youth and children. Moved. Renewed. Determined.
