The history of a royal tiara. Actually this is not the same tiara. From my research ... Tsarina Marie Feodorovna's sister, Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom, requested a tiara shaped like one of her sister's kokoshniks as an anniversary gift in 1888. That kokoshnik tiara, made of diamonds set in white and yellow gold, is still worn today by her great-granddaughter, Queen Elizabeth II

In the 1700s, there was no more extreme manner of dress in Western society than the court Mantua. In fact, it would be hard to find anything, anywhere that reac...hes the level of absurdity that this form does. Using panniers of wood strips or wicker work, mantuas could and did reach such breadth that the wearer was significantly wider than they were tall. Existing examples often are more than 6 feet wide. When you consider how much smaller people were then generally, that was a lot of dress to haul around. Learning how to navigate a room with others in it, as well as entering or leaving, was a skill, and those who could do so with grace were admired. As a form of Attire it was entirely about an obvious display of wealth, since creating such a gown could require dozens of meters of expensive silk fabric, not to mention the acres of metallic lace, or precious material embroideries that might be included. What could have possibly gone wrong? We made duplicates of Dolores’ iconic first look for HBO's Westworld consisting of her blue skirt, bodice, waist cincher, a...nd nightgown. We had so much fun helping make multiples of these costume pieces, since Westworld was always being reset! Costume Designer: Ane Crabtree and ACD: Amy Parris. Shout out to Cutter/Fitter Erica Ciaglia and her team for creating the original look. #evanrachelwood #westworld #hbo #dolores #corsets #mutolittle #custommade #local705 #mpc892 #costumedesign #doloresabernathy
