HELP - HELP- HELP- URGENT The Swap Meet at the OC Fairgrounds has existed in our community since 1969. It has and continues to provide valuable community resources as well as simply being a place to stroll on Saturday and Sundays. However, the Swap Meet at the OC Fairgrounds, otherwise known as the OC Marketplace,finds itself in jeopardy.... The current management, Spectra, is attempting to renegotiate their current contract with the Fair Board. Obviously, with Covid-19, many companies are experiencing a downturn. Spectra is no different. They are suppliers for entertainment venues and with all stadiums, arenas, etc closed down they have found themselves in trouble. The Swap Meet is the home to hundreds of small businesses that make their livelihood there. The Swap Meet is the sole retail location for most of these small businesses. These vendors and small businesses pay hundreds of thousands in sales tax to the state and the City of Costa Mesa each year. There is a special Fair Board meeting on Thursday June 11 to discuss a potential renegotiation. We ask everybody including vendors, CUSTOMERS, friends, and family to send emails to the 7 Fair Board members expressing what the swap meet means to you.
