We're heading into summer so get ready folks! The fire element is about to come into full force. For those of you with excess fire, you're about to feel the heat! The organ associated with summer is the Heart. The Heart is the emperor of the body. It governs blood and is responsible for the Shen (Mind) When the Heart is out of balance, you may experience:... Insomnia Palpitations Red complexion Excessive sweating Irritability, anxiety, restlessness Depression (too little joy) or mania (excess joy) Speech problems: Excessive talking, inappropriate laughter, rapid speech, aphasia, stuttering When the heart is in balance, all is well in the world. Are you experiencing any of these issues or need support during this fire season?

The place where all the magic happens. I had this intuitive hit when I graduated school - build it, and they will come. I didn't have any patients lined up, or any ideas of how I would make that happen, but I knew if I created a space for healing and transformation, people would come. It's my belief that having a sacred space to do healing work is essential. No bad juju, no loud noises or frenetic energy. This is a place for your nervous system to feel held. To surrender. To just be. It's my second home and I hope everyone feels the sense of safety and security that I feel when I'm here.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Arielle. I'm from New York and spent 9 years living in New York City before moving to San Diego. I was an art dealer, selling modern and contemporary masters, as well as emerging artists from all over the world. I loved the creative aspect of this work but grew to feel like something was missing. The part that was missing was you. I lacked the connection that I now have working in medicine. I treat all my patients like family and I a...bsolutely love being a part of all of your journeys. I had to grow in all areas of my life in order to show up for my patients. I had to heal my gut and my menstrual pain. I had to quiet my mind so I could be a better listener. I had to learn to manage my stress so I can show up calm and collected every session. I could go on, but you get the point. What are you currently working on and how would you like to evolve? Im genuinely curious. Drop a note if you feel inspired! See more

I find that most people are looking for a quick fix. They want a pill or a treatment that will get them from A to B immediately. And while I'm sure that would be nice, this type of treatment often misses the underlying issue and doesn't create lasting change. It's the type of medicine that puts a bandaid on one symptom after another, but isn't asking the overarching question - what's really going on here. Chinese Medicine doesn't just treat your symptoms. It treats the underlying patterns that caused you to have that particular issue to begin with. Often times there are more symptoms than you are even aware of, all stemming from the same place. I'm like a detective. Looking for the root cause and all the micro imbalances thereafter. Are you looking to make lasting changes?

Are you one of the many who never got your smell back after COVID? Did you know that acupuncture can not only open your sinuses, but can also help you regain your taste and smell? Acupuncture can also help clear up chronic sinus congestion and allergies by treating the root of the issue. No one should have to take allergy medication daily (unless they want to). Need help getting clear? Hit me up!

I absolutely LOVE treating women's health because there are SO few options the western way. It feels like birth control is prescribed for just about every condition, and the expectation is that women will be in pain every month. As if pain is a rite of passage or something that every woman should experience. I'm speaking up to call ehhem. BULLSHIT. Women - you do not need to be in pain every month. You do not need to suffer with headaches, bloating, breast tenderness and m...ood swings. Birth control is not the only solution to your period problem. Take it from me. I have Endometriosis and have been managing it with herbs and acupuncture for years. The traditional way of addressing it is to take birth control and suppress the cycle. You have options! No one should be bullied into birth control or told that advil is the only way to manage your pain. Chinese Medicine creates solutions, not band-aides. See more

Many people think that acupuncture only treats pain and that couldn't be farther from the truth. This point is called Heart 4, or Spirit Path. It can help change a person's attitude or approach to life. It helps us reconnect with our true path and helps us find our way. HT4 is often combined with Kidney 24, a point located on the upper chest, in the region of the heart. KD24, otherwise known as Spirit Ruin or Spirit Burial ground also treats the spirit. It helps a person l...et go, honoring what was a part of them, but is no longer. It puts us in touch with our true self and inner strength, and helps us find meaning in the world. These points together help us see clearly, connect to our truth, let go of the past and step into the future. I love supporting people on their path with spirit points. There is so much more to acupuncture than pain management and I love layering these elements into my treatments! See more

Joy - is an emotion related to the heart Worry - is a manifestation of the spleen Grief / Sadness - is connect to the lungs Fear - is a manifestation of the kidneys Anger - is related to the liver... All of these emotions can either be considered an excess or deficiency if they are being experienced in extremes. Acupuncture can help moderate emotions by bringing the body back into balance. Sometimes I feel like its a chicken or egg kinda thing. Is the body imbalance causing the emotions or are the emotions causing the imbalance. It is possible that structural issues can cause a certain pattern to arise, but it is also possible that a person is so attached to a particular emotion that they will continue to run in a cycle that causes a physical imbalance. This is why it's important for me to address both the mental and physical aspects in my treatments. Chinese Medicine is a mind - body - spirit medicine and in my opinion, you cant treat one aspect without addressing the other 2... that's if you want lasting results. Which I like to get for my clients. Are you experiencing a dominant emotion? If so, what is it? See more

Tis the season of having crazy allergies. Are you one of the millions of people who suffer from them? I know I am and have been for most of my life. Luckily my allergies are now in check, but man oh man they used to be so bad! Full body hives, itchy eyes, nasal congestion, headaches. Did you know that Chinese Medicine can treat allergies? It's also helpful to identify what foods are causing underlying issues. For this I recommend either an elimination diet or a food sensitivity panel. Interested in getting started on any of the above? Send me a DM and we can chat about you either coming into the office or working together through telehealth.

Did you know that almost 50% of coffee is moldy? Yep. You heard me correct. Moldy. This is why some studies show amazing health benefits of coffee while others show the opposite. Most commercial coffee is moldy before it's even processed and then gets worse while sitting on the shelf. If you're not sure if what you're drinking is actually healthy, look into the brand. There are a handful of great coffee options that are micotoxin free! This may not seem like a super important thing but who wants to start their day with needing to detox even more. Trust me. Its worth doing the research and choosing wisely.

We are all individuals so it's funny to me that the western medical approach is to give a pill to fix something, as if every body is the same and will respond the same to a particular thing. Chinese Medicine is an individualized approach. Every treatment I do is different and the tools I use with one patient are not necessarily the same that I use with another. This is not a blanket solution, but an ever evolving art to wellness.

Gua sha is an ancient Chinese healing technique that uses long strokes along the skin's surface to increase mirco-circulation, which increases blood flow to the tissue. It is often used to reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and increase the tonality of the skin. Plus it feels ammmaaazing. Have you ever had Gua Sha? If so, what was your experience with it?

Sometimes I have patients come in and tell me that they feel like they're a mess or falling apart. I'm here to admit that I've definitely been one of those people. Sometimes I feel like I've had every issue there is to have! Digestive, women's health, metabolic health, cognitive decline... you name it and I've experienced it. The cool thing is, our bodies are resilient and they can heal. All you need is a guide to help show you the way!

I think one of the most underrated natural home remedies is honey. Did you know that eating local, unfiltered, unprocessed honey can help your allergies? I know most of us aren't traveling lately but one tbs of local honey is one of the best ways to adapt to a new environment. It can also be great to help sooth a sore throat! I buy mine at the local farmers market and I just love the older couple who sells it because they are so passionate about taking care of their bees. We need more people like them around to save the poor little bees!

Frankincense. The king of all oils. There's a saying - when in doubt frank it out. That's because this oils is great for so many things. It's harvested from the Boswellia tree and typically grows in the dry, mountainous regions of India, Africa and the Middle East. In Chinese Medicine it's called Ru Xiang. We use it to promote circulation, relax the muscles, alleviate pain, reduce swelling (anti-inflammatory) and regenerate skin. There's also some research out there that suggests it may be a great cancer preventative. Doesn't that sound like a powerhouse? I use it for healing skin imperfections such as blemishes and cuts. It also helps lighten dark spots which I have lots of thanks to living in San Diego! In addition, since its such a high vibrational oil, it's great to use for meditation or as a base note in blends.

Light is born from darkness just as night become day, and day become night. These are cycles rooted in nature that not only cant be changed but should be celebrated. Amongst all the chaos, it is the PERFECT time to go inward and explore all the dark corners so that you can be born anew.... full of light.

Anyone who knows me well knows that I'm completely obsessed with plants. I can ID almost any of them and I have about 50 inside my house. I have a massive garden and take pride in growing my own food. There is something so rewarding about listening to the subtle voice of a plant and giving it exactly what it needs to thrive. I feel that way about acupuncture sometimes. Of course I put on my doctor hat, but I also have to listen on such a deep level. Our bodies talk to us just... like plants! Not sure how? Take a look at whatever plants you have in the house. Are they growing towards the light? That means they need more light. Are they browning around the edges? That means they need more water. Are they turning yellow? That means they're getting too much water. Can you see the veins in the leaves really strong? Try fertilizing. It might feel like detective work, but when you take on a plant or animal you are literally responsible for its life! What a gift. Have plant questions? Ask away!

It's crazy how something so tiny could be so powerful. Sometimes I get asked if there are drugs on the end of our needles because people feel so blissed out after a treatment. At first I thought that it was completely crazy that someone could think that, but I get it. People don't outright talk about how acupuncture works and it can be confusing. Plus we're taught that needles are off putting so we rarely show what they look like. So just to set the record straight - this little guy is about the thickness of a strand of hair, is stainless steel, is completely sterile and does not hurt when it goes in!

I'm always using different potions in my treatments. The cool thing about studying essential oils and plant medicine is that there is literally an oil or herb for everything. It's been fun learning all the ways to incorporate them into my healing work.

I truly believe that gratitude is the key to happiness. When we focus our attention to that which we have and not what is lacking, we can quickly see how abundant life is. Some may say life is not abundant for everyone, however that's just a matter of perspective. There is much to be grateful for if you just open your eyes. What are you grateful for today? I'm grateful to be living my dream job as an acupuncturist, sharing love and healing to all those around me!

Next time someone bothers you or you get upset about something, ask yourself why? This person is your teacher. We can use these experiences to understand ourselves just a little bit more. In order to grow in a healthy direction we have to be willing to look at all sides of ourselves objectively. You may not like what you see, but guess what.. you have the power to choose and change at any moment in time.

Mint, otherwise known as bo he in Chinese Medicine, is one of my favorites. Not only is it delicious to eat, but it's also great for treating certain kinds of rashes, soothing emotions like irritability or frustration, and aiding in a speedy recovery of certain types of cold/flu. It's also a nice addition to your water on a super hot day! This babe can be used alone or in a formula.

Not only is it important to eat an array of colored foods, but it's equally important to spice up your meals with a variety of flavors. So much stagnation can be eliminated just by adding in a few spices. Try picking up a few new things at the grocery store and smell them before you start cooking. Where do they lead you? Does a certain vegetable come to mind? Intuitive cooking is an art, but honestly so much of it starts with your nose. You already know what will taste good together. Trust yourself.

Zhi Zi. The prettiest herb there ever was. I love this beauty not only for its unique shape and color but also for how powerful it is. In Chinese Medicine, we use it to clear heat, so things like irritability, insomnia, restlessness and painful urination. Its never used on its own, but in a formula with other powerhouse herbs. Its amazing the power of plants.

Sometimes I can't get over how lucky I am to be doing something that I love so much. I remember the days of being an art dealer. I was always stressed going from one task to the next. Giving myself headaches from the computer and backaches from my chair. Doing acupuncture completely lights me up. It feels like I hit the jackpot to be able to get to go to work each day. I celebrate every new patient I have and each time someone comes back and says the treatments are worki...ng, my heart lights up. What a gift. Have you tried acupuncture?
