**New Teacher Spotlight** AHS welcomes Mrs. Michele Nielsen Mrs. Nielsen is teaching Ethics and World History at Aquinas this year. She has taught for the Diocese of San Bernardino and in public schools. ... Her teaching experience includes teacher courses on public history at Cal State University, San Bernardino, teaching special education in grades K-12, and general education in the lower grades. Mrs. Nielsen holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s Degree from the University of Redlands, and is currently working on a second Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, there. Her next academic endeavor will be the EdD in educational justice at University of Redlands. Her motto is: never stop learning. Her areas of academic interest include the teaching of social history and innovation in the area of teaching students with disabilities using universal concepts of curriculum design. She has two sons who attend schools in the Diocese and enjoys learning, and outdoor adventure with her family. Welcome! #WeAreAquinas

The Aquinas community would like to send its prayers and well wishes to class of 1960 alumnus J. Micheal Welch. Judge Welch has been recently admitted to hospice care. Judge Welch was a multi sport athlete for the Falcons (Basketball, Baseball and Track) being named MVP in Basketball his senior year. Judge Welch went on to graduate from the University of Loyola and the UC San Diego school of Law... Judge Welch served as a Superior Court Judge in San Bernardino county for many years. Please keep Judge Welch and his family in your thoughts and prayers #WeAreAquinas

**New Teacher Spotlight** AHS welcomes Mr. James Hodge Mr. James Hodge is a four-year English composition and ESL (English as a Second Language) instructor who began teaching at California State University, Fullerton. From this university, James has earned two Bachelor’s in Speech Communications and English for Secondary Education. He furthered his education and received his Master’s in Teaching English to Speaker’s of Other Languages. He has taught two years of secondary... education with additional subjects of science, history, and biblical studies. Before coming to Aquinas, he was formerly the varsity soccer coach at Bloomington Christian Growing up, James invested his time playing sports, mostly soccer and swim. Alongside his love for sports, James enjoys competitive chess matches and reading various forms of literature. He and his wife are currently enjoying their 3rd year of marriage along with their wonderful, newborn daughter Welcome Mr. Hodge! #FalconPride #WeAreAquinas
