Cutting the cord
Celebrating Girl Scouts birthday by giving the first baby girl born on March 12 a basket of goodies. We are happy to include Licensed Midwives in our baby baskets this year. The Girl Scouts troops of Snowline area welcome you into the world.
In honor of International Women’s Week, today’s Honorable Mention, Alina Hamrick, CPM, LM. Alina is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and California Licens...ed Midwife (LM). As Alina’s season of raising her six children was coming to a close, a new calling began to bud in her life. She was welcomed into a small community of traditional midwives in 1997, with whom she began to learn about the knowledge, skill, dedication, and passion of midwifery. She learned that a woman’s body is wonderfully made to grow, birth and nurture her baby and she learned of a midwife’s role to hold space for the woman to do so safely. She learned that a woman’s soul is inextricably connected with her baby’s soul and of a midwife’s role to protect that vital oneness. She learned that the way we do birth in our culture is immeasurably removed from the Creator’s intended process and of a midwife’s role to restore the dignity, strength and ownership to each woman of her body and birth. After a short break Alina returned to her studies in 2004 and enjoyed a 6 year apprenticeship with Southern California midwives. She became certified and licensed in 2010 and currently attends childbearing families, as well as providing individualized well-woman care, in her clients’ homes. Alina serves the High Desert, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, and parts of Orange and Los Angeles Counties.
