EXERCISE OF THE DAY: CURTSY SQUAT The curtsy squat is great for targeting muscles that often get overlooked in our squats and lunges. While working the usual glute and leg muscles, it also activates the gluteus medius, an important muscle for stability, and the hip abductors, which bring our thighs together. Add curtsy squats to your workout routine to get a more well rounded workout! How to properly perform the curtsy squat: stand upright with hands together in front of you ...or on your hips. Step one foot back and across behind your other leg. Lower your body down toward the floor until your shin is parallel to the floor, and lean your torso slightly forward. Make sure your chest stays straight. Push off your front foot to return to start, then repeat with the other foot. Start with using only your body weight but you can also progress to adding weights.
