Sometimes we do not personally resonate with the story. It can be a thrilling challenge to take on because this means we could use imagination as a tool. This type of training encourages you to use your creativity to build the life of the character. Then you will inherently know the answers to if the character has A dog or a cat?... A loft, house in the country, or New York condo? How is their place decorated? Who comes to visit often? Is there photos on the wall of loved ones? What kind of work does the individual have? Who do they work with? Do they feel alone or are they surrounded by friends / lover? What keeps them up at night? What is missing? What are they excited about? What do they strive to accomplish? The questions continue until you can visualize the character’s life which helps you make stronger decisions for the performance. Do you seem to use location or imagination or a combo of both while prepping for your performances? Which technique seems like the most beneficial for your prep?

A woman thinks the man is irritating. A man believes the woman is a know-it-all. See how they are annoyed by similar characteristics to one another? It brings humor into the storylinethe two exchange several back and forths in this manner. The audience knows the woman and man are a good match. Flash forward. Conflict arises in the story. It may be a square off with villains, another murder mystery unsolved, or the baker off Melrose Drive not having your favorite type of c...upcake; there is trouble, which means they have to work together. Flash forward. Amid an array of opposition, it clicks. The two have affection for one another. In most stories, the lead character discovers an individual they fall for. The lead typically has a particular archetype, such as the magician, the creator, the king/ queen, etc., along with the archetype of the LOVER. There is a dance between who the lead is internally (primary archetype) and who she/ he is when in love/ affection (the lover archetype). This combination makes the audience want to know more. There is a set conflict, but the lead is passionate about someone, which means there is a mystery of what is to unfold. This goes for any relationship where the characters may begin a romantic relationship. Not gender-specific. When preparing for auditions, discover the many twists and turns with this duality of the two archetypes mixing together within the story’s journey. How can you imagine past memories along with the hope of the future with your lover to bring about more colorful experiences while performing? #bookthejobseries #creatingmemories #playingintheiam #characterarchetype

Whenever you see a beat or in the sides, it means there is a drop, departure, or change to the character’s point of view. Think of a beat as a departure to discuss a different memory, fact, or feeling the character is experiencing, which flips the conversation's direction. A beat is simply a human experience with a memory underneath shifting to another perspective. ... Use these moments to create unique choices to help you deepen the performance. #bookthejobseries #creatingmemories
