As each of us is adapting to our own unique situations surrounding COVID-19, I am providing information to assist our community with common questions asked by many people at this time. QUESTION: Do I need a Living Trust for my family? ANSWER: If you own real property, and/or have a family, then you should have a Living Trust so the property in the trust can be easily transferred to your heirs.... WHY this is important: Most people want to pass on as much of their assets as possible to their heirs, in the least amount of time. A Living Trust eliminates both the high cost of attorney fees, and the need for a time-consuming probate proceeding, which average 9-12 months. WHAT to think about: Who do you want to inherit your property after your passing, and how quickly do you want them to be able to use the inheritance? HOW to memorialize your wishes: Call me at (310) 963-5195, or email [email protected] with questions.

As each of us is adapting to our own unique situations surrounding COVID-19, I am providing useful information to assist our community with common questions and concerns that are being asked by many people at this time. QUESTION: If I get sick, and unable to communicate my healthcare wishes, how can I be assured my medical decisions will be carried out for me? ANSWER: By use of an Advance Healthcare Directive which is a document that states your health-related wishes k...nown should you become unable to speak for yourself. WHY this is important: It eliminates the unnecessary stress placed upon your family trying to guess your wishes, and will appoint the agent that you have chosen, to carry out those wishes. WHAT to think about: Who to appoint as your agent, who to list as your physician, and other medical care choices. HOW to memorialize my wishes: Call (310) 963-5195 or email [email protected] to contact me with any questions.

I will be posting short informative facts and information related to wills, trusts, powers of attorney and probate issues. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO SERVE AS AN EXECUTOR?... An executor is a person designated in a will as the individual responsible for performing a number of tasks necessary to close out the decedent’s affairs. Generally, the executor’s responsibilities involve taking charge of the deceased person’s assets, notifying beneficiaries and creditors, paying the estate’s debts and distributing the property to the beneficiaries. The executor may also be a beneficiary of the Will, though he or she must treat all beneficiaries fairly and in accordance with the provisions of the Will. So choose your executor wisely, since you are entrusting them with such an important task.
