5 Things to do first when moving into a new house... 1) If not a new built, change the locks... Think about how many people may have the keys to your house. Call a locksmith and for a charge (anywhere form $40 - $100) you can have peace of mind that no one else has your keys. 2) Change all of the filters... This means some you may not have thought of... ... Aeration filters in kitchen and bathroom spigots (the thing on the edge of the faucet). The air filter in the heating and air conditioning unit. The vent filter above the stove. Paul DiMeo, designer and builder for "Building Wild" on the National Geographic Channel and a contractor on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" on ABC stresses the importance of changing the aerators adding "aerators cost about $7 each, and if there's been an accumulation of sediment over the years, replacing them will improve the water pressure. Range vent filters can run $10 to $30, while heating and air filters are available for $5 to $30." He also mentions checking the dryer vent to make sure it is not clogged. 3) Give your new space a deep cleaning, DiMeo mentions that "when the house is empty, you can see every mark and flaw. Also, it's harder to get to some places after the house is filled with your stuff. Wash windows, vacuum floors and steam-clean carpets, he advises. Anything that was left behind by the family before me, I want to get that gone. Really go in there and wash the entire place." Better yet, if you can, to alleviate stress, hire someone to clean the house before you move in. 4) Upgrade the technology in the home. Want to have wireless speakers built in? The best time to install or update home technology is right before (or during) the move-in, Phipps says. 5) Recommendations from friends or neighbors are great, but what about the prior homeowner? "Ask the prior homeowner for a list of contacts and service people they've used," says Phipps. "A personal recommendation in your neighborhood is really, really valuable." http://bit.ly/2kSprac #Moving #5thingstodoonceyouclosethedeal #ThisIsMoving

Trick to Renting a Moving Truck... So you decided to forgo professional movers and move yourself. Where do you start? There doesn't appear to be a "Trivago/Travelocity" type website for moving companies, so the best place to begin is by calling the big companies (U-Haul, Budget, Penske, etc...) and get some quotes. Keep in mind pricing is all about supply and demand. A higher volume weekend (think summertime and the end of the month) and the price will be higher. Always ...read the fine print... The $19.95 ads on the back of a U-Haul truck should really only be a starting point. Thorin Klosowski, from LifeHacker.com adds... "when you're shopping for a moving truck, compare prices at every rental truck provider and play around with the dates. From there, also try changing different pick up and drop off locations in your city because different locations offer different prices. Your previous experience doesn't really affect who is going to have the cheaper price. If you can, avoid moving during summer, especially between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Getting a deal on a moving truck is a lot like getting a deal on airline tickets." http://bit.ly/1wAh4hw #Moving #RentalTruck #ThisIsMoving #savesomedough
