189 years ago today, Professor Jean-Martin Charcot was born. In 1868, at age 43, he first wrote about tabetic arthropathy (a joint disease from syphilis), which would later be called Charcot's joint. Today this bone destruction from neuropathy occurs most often as a consequence of diabetes and we call it Charcot foot.
