Today is #nationalpuppymillawarenessday, and we’re joined at San Diego Humane Society by Assemblymember Todd Gloria, the author of AB 2152. This bill, also know...n as Bella's Act and sponsored by SDHS, will close loopholes in current state law prohibiting retail sales of dogs, cats and rabbits in California. We're happy to announce that it was signed and has been passed into law! See more

Advice posted by an Oregon Forest Ranger. Wild animals are going to be moving towards towns and cities. Their area is on fire and flight instincts will kick in.... That means deer, elk, coyote, bear and anything else running around the mountains[or flying around] will be looking for safety. Bring in your pets and put out buckets of water for them. They will be frightened and exhausted. DO NOT SHOOT THEM. Their world is burning and they have no where to go. We are praying for all creatures and beings in the path of wildfires. https://instagram.com/4legs4justice_rescue disclaimer: These photos were chosen to give the public a visual of the sad reality of many animals during the wildfire in Oregon based on previous wildfires photographed. All wildfires destroy the homes of animals and creatures. These are an accurate visual depiction of the wildlife’s current state. We do not own the rights to these photos-googled.

When we received a call about a Chihuahua running on I-15 South, our Humane Law Enforcement Officers responded immediately! The California Highway Patrol stoppe...d traffic just north of the Adams Ave exit so our officers could coax the dog off the freeway. The scared pup ran to hide underneath a shed in a Normal Heights canyon but using treats and patience, we were able to bring the dog to safety at our San Diego Campus. We still haven’t located the pup’s owner, but we hope he’ll be reunited with his family soon. #InspireCompassion See more

Larry (631355) is an expert at #TongueOutTuesday! This 1-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier is young and rambunctious, so his new family will need to continue h...is training so he can be the best doggie possible! He is also fearful of new people, so it's best to go slow and give him time to get to know you. Once Larry finds the right family, we know he will be an amazing companion.
