Local Alamedans need help taking goods to communities that survived the devastating fires. They've been making bi-weekly trips up to the Sierras to assist other communities. Can you make a donation to help them do their work? Thank you!

I grew up with The Beatty family in Columbus, Ohio. I served Representative Otto Beatty in The Ohio State House of Representatives as his page. Now, his wife, Rep. Joyce Beatty leads our nation's Congressional Black Caucus. This just in, please spread the word to our local community, however I’m adding a disclaimer that this is a rocky launch and probably a bit premature based on w...hat I’m hearing from folks trying to secure appointments. Hopefully this is sorted out soon so that we can ensure the equitable distribution of vaccinations. Fingers crossed! Starting today at noon, appointments can be made on the My Turn website (link below) for the Oakland Coliseum mass vaccination site. The folks prioritized include our frontline workers, long-term care providers, over 65, educators. However the system still needs to be updated to reflect educators of all ages, apparently. Hopefully this gets sorted out ASAP. Folks who don’t have Internet can call 833-422-4255 Please help to get this information out to your networks. If you know an educational staff, have them reach out now!

Third Election Returns: 10:40PM PST Amos currently in 3rd by 34 votes for 2 open seats in a field of 5 candidates. Approx. 44%-47%, 20,000 of 42-45,000 ballots cast. (Source: Alameda County Registrar of Voters, City of Alameda, City Council race. www.acgov.org/rovresults/241/indexA.htm)... [Wednesday, November 4, 2020. 8 am.] With more than half the vote still to count, we are close. We ran a good race and we are eager to see how Alamedans responded. We started this morning thinking what more could be done. The answer is to count every vote and uphold the integrity of the election. We are optimistic with so many outstanding votes to go. This was a short campaign season in a pandemic with no door to door contact for volunteers, with high phone and text and mail and online voter contacts in the midst of a racial revolution to acknowledge, to center and to protect Black lives.. Yes, the challenges were great. Yet, my trust in Alamedan voters is just as great. As Wednesday begins, we carry our trust and hope in our democracy forward. And we begin to think about how we will protect our democratic institutions both nationally and right here in our city. We will count every vote. For every vote counts. Every voice counts. Every voice. In this campaign I heard over and over again how important it is to "be sure to listen carefully to voters." My team and I shaped our vision for our city to be one that will be a fair and equitable city that works to be inclusive of every voice here-- every. We believed that only by working together in an open governmental system can we ensure a fuller participation of the electorate in the important decisions of the day- and the future. With the immediate, like providing equitable housing policies and electing a more diverse council, to the mid-term of reshaping our community's public safety and supporting our local businesses and residents in the midst of covid with job and income losses yet continued rents; to funding investments in infrastructure and supporting our climate action goals. Our vision remains clear. We remain hopeful in the final vote too. ~Amos

Great piece on the impact of sea level rise project funding as a result of COVID-19. This news piece features two colleagues, Jack Liebster and Warner Chabot, who I serve with on BCDC Bay ADAPT Working Group. A tremendous challenge in funding environmental projects to take on this climate emergency. #climateemergency #sfbayarea
