A: While wildfires happen all year long, the risk increases as the weather gets hotter and drier. In the Western U.S., fires peak in September, October and November. Q: What states are the most susceptible? A: While all states are susceptible to wildfire, the largest have burned in the West. Q: How do I know if there’s a wildfire in my area? A: You can sign up for your community’s warning system, or get alerts from the Emergency Alert System or National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration Weather Radio. Q: How can I best prepare?
