Congratulations to the 2019 representatives to Boys State from Post 339 in Ventura. The Post was proud to sponsor these young men from high schools throughout Ventura, Santa Paula and Fillmore. The knowledge gained and memories made from this experience will last a lifetime. We hope this experience and the scholarships awarded each one the motivation to continue along the path to making a difference in their communities and the country.

As we begin the holiday season, the Post has continued its tradition of donating funds to the VA Home in Ventura for Christmas gift cards for all the residents there. Our fellow vets living there look forward to these cards each year. They get to go shopping and find that little something they couldn’t otherwise afford. There are 60 comrades residing at the Home.

Well it's that time of year again that we celebrate our boys state delegates. The posts chairman along with the selection committee picked out 8 outstanding boys from all the high schools in the ventura area to represent not only post 339 but themselves in Sacramento. This year we had Dawson Beal from Buena, Gavin Harley from VHS, Clayton Brossia and Anson Tan from Foothill Tech, Brian Abdulhai and Fluellen Umali from St Bonnie's and Steven Santiago and Bodde Stewart from Santa Paula HS. Dawson, Gavin, Clayton and Anson had dinner with us at the post and told us about the great time they all had. The meal was great and everybody had a great time. Here are some pics.

It's that time again for election of new post officers for the 2017/18 year. To no surprise to anyone, the officers from last year will continue for this year. Congratulations, I think. Lol. The post has also voted to raise its dues for next year due to a potential per capita increase at the department and/or national level. Dues for next year will be $40.00. Sorry in advance for the inconvenience. Boys state is coming up in June and an outstanding delegation from Ventura high schools will be representing the post. Awards and scholarships will be awarded to them at the July meeting and we will post names and pictures when we have them. That's it for now. We welcome comments and suggestions.

It is with a sad heart that we announce the transfer to post everlasting of Bob Carr on Jan 4. Bob was our primary liaison with the scouting program and did a great job in getting us sponsorship of two cub packs. Though absent from meetings due to health issues, he will be sorely missed by his family friends and legion comrades. RIP Bob. Commander Jeff McKendry
