AMAS Karate (Academy Of Martial Arts Shotokan)

The much awaited opening of our new dojo has finally arrived. San Mateo County officially opened up indoor fitness centers at tier 2 occupancy which means we are restricted to 10% occupancy. Once we move to tier 3, the occupancy capacity will be increased. CLASS SCHEDULE: The dojo will officially open on October 5th. Current students must reserve their class in advance and attend only the class(es) they are enrolled in, as the class(es) you choose will be your regular class.... We increased the number of classes to accommodate as many students as we can. If the class(es) you've selected is full and we're not able to accommodate your selection due to the current restriction, we'll work with you. We anticipate being able to accommodate everyone when we move to tier 3. Please indicate your class choice(s) through the link that was emailed to you. Please note that class selection is first come, first serve. SAFETY PROTOCOLS: A temperature check will be taken before entering. The dojo will be following proper protocols when it comes to disinfecting. Students are required to wear face masks during class. It is advised that students come in their gi's (uniform), especially for the kids. Unfortunately, no one is allowed inside the dojo to watch the classes during this pandemic. NEW LOCATION: Here is the address of our new dojo, 950 King Drive, #103, Daly City, CA 94015. We are located inside King Plaza Center which is in the same complex as Classic Bowl and only a mile away from our old dojo. We are on the side of the bowling alley next to Mr. Fong's restaurant. It's been six months since our lives were disrupted due to Covid-19. I hope our students are adapting well to distance learning and/or remote work. Now is a good time to incorporate the lost physical activity and fitness that was lost back into our lives, and resume some sense of normalcy. We are eager to help students pick up where they left off and hopefully achieve their next goal. We can't wait to see you back in the dojo.

The dojo will remain closed until further notice. Please stay home and only go out for essential necessities. We need to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. It doesn’t only protect us but also our loved ones at home. We look forward to seeing everyone back at the dojo soon.

It is with deep regret that the much awaited seminar of Sensei Cathy Cline scheduled for March 28, 2020 at AMAS Karate is cancelled. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Coronavirus situation, it is best to avoid large gatherings at the moment. We regret to announce that we are cancelling the annual AMAS Tournament scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2020 due to concerns related the COVID-19 Coronavirus and in the wake of California's state of emergency declaration. We look forward to this event each year and while this is the first cancellation in our decades of hosting this tournament, our utmost concern is the safety and well-being of our karate community. As former President Barack Obama has advised, "Let's stay calm, listen to the experts and follow the science". Take care and stay healthy. Osu!
