The quality of the vanilla we are importing has increased markedly in the past couple of months, and pricing has started to decline somewhat (although still at elevated levels). We are not seeing nearly as much mold infestation as in the past two or three years, and the beans are longer and nicer. Time to start using "natural" vanilla again!
