If you are interested in a membership, you need to contact Margaret Newhouse, a member of our Tennis & Pickleball Committee that oversees the club, at [email protected] and she will tell you how to get your name on our INTEREST LIST. Meanwhile, since there are many out of town visitors who contact us, the only way... one can play at Altamira 4 Tennis & Pickleball Club is to (1) own or rent a townhouse in Altamira 4 HOA, (2) be a current non-resident member, or (3) be invited by a resident or non-resident member to play as a guest. There is no OPEN PLAY anymore for pickleball due to the COVID situation. If you re interested in tennis or pickleball lessons, we have 4 certified tennis instructors and 1 certified pickleball instructor offering all types private, semi-private or group lessons for both youth and adults of all ages. Their information can be found on this site. If you have difficulty finding that information, just email Bob Fila at [email protected] directly and he will send you a list with information about the instructors.

This is in response to the derogatory comment about me posted on March 11. When the director first told me about this post, I was dealing with a close family member who had terminal cancer. I was extremely concerned about the family member's treatment options, but as it turned out I had no impact as her daughter would not listen to other options, so the next couple of months were very painful for me. In any event, let me respond to that comment. As a matter of practice, I do ...not normally offer a refund on a discounted package of lessons and I tried to tell the client this. However, after talking with the client earlier in the year, I thought that we had resolved the issue by me agreeing to a payment plan whereby I would refund the balance requested on an installment basis. Then on March 19 the courts where I teach were suddenly closed for the COVID-19 pandemic, and my income immediately ceased from tennis instruction. However, I have secured a temporary part-time position and I will resume those payments that I had previously agreed to. Please accept my apologies for the delay! Posted on behalf of Ken Hurt by Bob Fila, Director.

Just to clarify, our facility is still closed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and government orders. We are planning on re-opening June 1 on a limited and very restricted basis while we have to adhere to social distancing, face coverings, and sanitizing issues. There will be more information when we get final approval to re-open what we are calling our Phase 1.

U.S. Tennis Association says best to not play now [Peter King on NBC Sports] Associated Press ,Peter King on NBC SportsApril 4, 2020... The U.S. Tennis Association says its best not to play the sport right now because of the coronavirus pandemic. In a posting on its website on Friday, the USTA called it in the best interest of society to take a collective pause from tennis. The statement from the organization that runs the U.S. Open Grand Slam tournament said there have not been specific studies about tennis and the COVID-19 illness. But there is the possibility that germs could be transferred among people via sharing and touching of tennis balls, net posts, court surfaces, benches or gate handles. So the USTA wants players to be patient in our return to the courts. In the meantime, the group encouraged people to create what it termed tennis-at-home variations. The U.S. Open is still scheduled to start Aug. 31 in New York. The All England Club announced this week that it had canceled this year’s edition of Wimbledon. The French Open was postponed from May to September.
