Deb Squared Photo's client and my friend Paul Dutton is opening a new YouTube channel "The Emergency Preparedness Network" in the next few weeks to help us all ...be prepared for disasters of all kinds. Please read the post to help your family be prepared: Are you and your family ready for the next power outage, Red Flag warnings, other wind events, or earthquake? Los Angeles County has been declared by FEMA to be the riskiest disaster area in the country! Tune into "The Emergency Preparedness Network" on YouTube and find out what you need to do to get your family ready for all disasters! The grand opening of the channel is Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 10:00am PST. Watch it to be informed about family preparedness. Crescenta Valley's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Coordinator, Red Cross Volunteer, and Professional Emergency Preparedness Consultant, Paul Dutton, will be launching his new YouTube channel called "The Emergency Preparedness Network." Paul is getting the word out to people on how to be prepared for all disasters. He teaches us how to make family's disaster plans that include handling downed power lines; preparing for Red Flag Warnings; making ready for loss of power; performing disaster medical procedures, and so much more. This is a channel you will want to check out every week as additional instructional videos are added. Dutton has participated in dozens of disasters and fires as a CERT Coordinator, Red Cross Shelter Manager, Sheriff Volunteer, and professional consultant, in one capacity or another for 20 years! Paul brings that experience right to you, to help you and your family get prepared!
Just after the Croatian Earthquake men try to rescue people who might be in cars. This is why CERT trained team members keep our PPE and backpacks close by. The key photo here is dust from the earthquake, watch video please. https://twitter.com/ABCWorldNews/status/1343976500857548800
Look at the dust and bricks everywhere. This is why we have our CERT PPE ready at all times. https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/1344006523161255938?s=20
Anyone living in the Foothills of Los Angeles may be interested in our Altadena Town Council Community Zoom meeting about Wildlife caught between the urban/wildlands interface. Recently we have had an increase in large wild animal activity in Altadena. CERTers, here are some hints as to what to do when confronted by bears and cougars.

Bobcat Fire Update Saturday 9/26 There has been very little change in the Bobcat Fire as we approach day 20. On the north side of Mt Lewis the fire continued to inch its way towards either side of Big Rock Creek Camp. This is rugged terrain as firefighters continue to squelch one of the last areas of active fire. West of Mt Waterman there has been a little activity moving towards the camp areas, again in steep terrain. West of Mt Wilson, firefighters continue creating the...ir defensive line at Red Box Gap and along Hwy 2.Looking at the infrared map there are very few areas of scattered heat (green areas) and isolated heat sources (red dots). There isn’t much more to say than that. The long-haul is the mop up operations, locating hot spots in the interior, and achieving containment in the more difficult areas to reach. This last part will still take two to four weeks. Many trails and roads in the southern portion may be closed to the public for months or years as repairs take place. After the 2009 Station fire some areas were closed for almost five years. The road to Chantry will be a big concern with landslides and mudslides in the canyons once the rains start. Let’s hope they can assess this and get the road open as soon as possible. Cabin owners are still waiting on the definitive word about their cabins and Sturtevant Camp.Thank you again to local Sierra Madre artist William Wray for the donation of his oil painting to be auctioned off to benefit the Sierra Madre Community Emergency Response Team. For those who are not familiar with his earlier work as Bill Wray, he has been a cartoonist and animator for Disney, Hanna-Barbera, Mad Magazine, and The Ren & Stimpy Show. Some of his paintings can be seen at www.williamwray.comContinue to work on your own preparedness plan. Sierra Madre CERT is in the business of getting people prepared for disasters. They are not able to hold their annual 24-hour CERT Basic Training class this year, but they hope to offer four hours of California Ready (LISTOS) training online in October. Watch the Sierra Madre CA group for more information. In the meantime, download your California Disaster Ready Guide at www.prepareca2020.org and support Sierra Madre CERT!
