Here's this week's Thought for the Week, which will be the topic of this Sunday's talk by Rev. Gay - "Awakening Consciousness" Michael Singer wrote a New York Times bestseller entitled The Untethered Soul which sheds light on our everyday thoughts and experiences in an entertaining and enlightening way. This is the anchor or theme for the month of March since our book club is in the thick of it currently. What is an untethered soul? First and foremost, we need to dive... deep within our thoughts and emotions and when we do, we discover there is a constant chatter that is going on inside our heads. We humans have a tendency to see what is going on in the world around us and then audit it; we categorize, pass judgment, jump to conclusions and basically bring out a flurry of problems. But what if we were able to realize that there is something within us that is more than this constant chatter and auditor? What if we were to recognize that there is something within us that is deeper than this? There is. It’s called consciousness and consciousness has the ability to focus. The process of seeing something requires a subject-object relationship. The subject is called the Witness because it sees what’s happening. The object is what you are seeing. To obtain true inner freedom we must be able to objectively watch our problems and break the habit of thinking the solution is to rearrange things on the outside. Being aware that we are aware is the key. Eventually we will begin to realize that the outside world and the flow of inner emotions come and go. But you, the observer, the witness, the one who experiences these things, remain consciously aware of whatever passes before you. Say with me: Today I am aware I am more than thoughts and emotions. I am the silent Observer of the objects before me and as I quiet my mind I find peace within.

Here's the Thought for the Week, which will be the topic of this Sunday's talk by Rev. Gay: "What Awaits Around the Bend?" As we journey through Life, we are met sometimes with obstacles, challenges and forks in the road. How many times have we looked back through all these unplanned paths and realized the value, lessons, and actual blessings they contained? The truth of the matter is that there is a Higher Power living through our lives and the sooner we acknowledge and ...look to It for guidance and direction, the more gracious and giving our lives become. Isaiah 65:24 reads: And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer, and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. There is no more intimate of a relationship that we can have greater and more fulfilling than that of the Great I Am that resides in our hearts and souls. We live, move and have our being in this infinite, unlimited power and presence. It’s will for us is always the highest and best. This loving, all knowing, God presence withholds nothing of Its good from us. We are the ones who unknowingly place ourselves in limitation, lack and despair. The great Master Teacher, Jesus the Christ, told us I of myself can do nothing. It is the father within that doeth the works. This loving father wants us to willingly take the path that He has prepared. Even if we cannot see beyond the bend, He is there beckoning us forward. His almighty hand prepares a table for us in the presence of our enemies. He anoints our heads with oil and our cups runneth over. The next time you are met with a quandary or indecision as to which way to turn, turn within and let the Father within provide for your every need. Say with me: I know God’s loving presence is eternally leading and guiding me. I know I am loved, safe, and always provided for my every need. I accept and give thanks that this is so.

Here's this week's Thought for the Week - "Life is Always Moving Forward" - by Rev. Gay. This will be the subject of this Sunday's talk. As we progress through the first month of 2021 let us acknowledge that Life is ever moving forward. Just take a look at the history of the relationship of mankind to the Divine. In primitive times the movement of the moon and stars created confusion and unrest. These people feared God whom they imagined as a domineering force that brought... havoc to their world. Over time the human race has grown in its understanding to where God has become more accessible, more approachable, more loveable, until, through the teachings of many mystics, including Christ Jesus, we have learned that God, the Father, and I are one. There is no doubt that Life is about change. Behold, I make all things new. Change can be uncomfortable there no doubt about that. However, if you see where change is necessary and is beckoning you to follow, take the lead and move quickly. Do what you can do in the moment. Know that Goodness awaits in the next breath and in the next step. Eileen Caddy writes: Let the old die away, revealing the new. There is something truly wonderful waiting to be revealed when you let go of all the old completely. Always remember that it is resistance that causes pain, so be not impatient and resentful. When you have an ingrowing toenail, it hurts. When a soul is ingrowing and fails to give out, fails to expand, that soul suffers much pain and conflict. In order to do this, we must accept God as our constant guide and companion who will never leave or fail us. But we must take the initiative to invite the Divine into our conscious recognition. Say with me: I gladly let go of the past and with my loving God taking my hand and leading the way, I step freely and joyously into a greater expression of Life, moving onward and upward. And it is so.
