Almaden Little League 09.02.2021

A second local business has stepped up to help our Almaden Little League graduate Jacob Le raise funds to support his unique Eagle Scout project working with us to build a batting cage at the Juniors Field. Scrambl’z Restaurant (on Almaden Expressway, near Walmart and Best Buy) will host a fundraiser this coming weekend: Saturday, February 6 Sunday, February 7... You can do takeout (via phone order or walk-in) or outdoor dining (at the restaurant). When you order, please reference Jacob’s Eagle Project or show the attached flyer Flyer can be found at link https://docs.google.com//1bUnaKLa7AK7HOYdeZ7zsfgKf5S/edit A portion of the proceeds from food orders on these two days will go toward the building of the batting cage. Why not order some breakfast for Super Bowl weekend ? And support a great project along the way ? Please contact Jacob with any questions at: [email protected]

Hey folks - One of our Almaden Little League Baseball alumni needs your support on a very unique Eagle Scout project! Jacob Le played in Almaden Little League from 2010 (T-Ball) until 2019 (Juniors). Some of you know Jacob as a player. Others have heard him as our public address announcer at League Opening Day, Playoffs, and various Tournaments. For his Eagle Scout project, Jacob is leading the effort to build a batting cage at the Juniors Field, located at Challenger Scho...ol in South Almaden. Because a batting cage currently does not exist at the Juniors field, players do not have an opportunity to practice their swings before games. This project, which represents a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the Boy Scouts and Little League, will address a significant need for our future players. To help cover the costs of this ambitious project, Amato Pizzeria will host a fundraiser on Monday, January 25 and Thursday, January 28. Please support our alum Jacob by specifically stating Jacob’s Eagle Project or presenting the following flyer on your walk-in or phone orders on Monday January 25 or Thursday January 28 at Amato Pizzeria. The flyer can be found at the following link, https://docs.google.com//1qMUgBgwdRn9IRSVZNrDdQxQyIvx/edit For more information, contact Jacob directly at [email protected]. Let’s band together to support this great project so that future Juniors Division baseball players can have a batting cage to practice in. Go Jacob !!!

"But as Jim Bouton wrote in the classic book, Ball Four, a lot of people spend a lifetime gripping a ball, only to realize it was the other way around all the time." Play Catch! Whatever your age. https://www.nytimes.com//baseball-catch-covid-impeachment.

The kids are back at it, albeit they are only practicing. We are still holding out hope that we can get games in, but we'll have to wait and see. We think that by allowing the kids to have practice, while maintaining reasonable safety standards, our kids are getting exercise, having a social outlet (that's not fortnite), and still learning something about the game of baseball. See you on the field (at a reasonable distance)!

Missing baseball. But ALL hopes you all are doing well and finding ways to connect with friends and family during social distancing.

Almaden Little League's opening day ceremony was a fantastic event. Always great to see the older kids welcome the rookie class (aka T-Ball) to the community. Thanks to everyone who made it what it was.

Registration ends in 2 weeks. Please share this post so that your connections are aware. And a reminder to all: Receive a $50 rebate if you refer a new player to sign up for Almaden LL (doesn't apply to returning players). All you need to do is have this new family enter your name during registration when asked if an existing family referred them and we will pay you $50.... For the T-Ball, Coach Toss, A and AA divisions you can list buddy requests during registration and build a team of players that are friends and like to play together. Maybe kids in the same class at school or kids from the same soccer team, etc. Almaden LL will do its best to accommodate these buddy requests and get friends on the same team
