It is more then just Bingo! Bingo at Alexander Gardens involves the whole community. Zoe from volunteers on Tuesdays and calls the letters for the residents. We schedule intergenerational programming with benefits to all involved.
Thank you Flower Empower for the beautiful orchards! Our residents loved the visit and appreciate your thoughtfulness. Special to Dream Foundation’s hometown of Santa Barbara, Flower Empower is a volunteer-driven program that delivers hope and compassion in the form of beautiful bouquets to those in need. Several days each week, groups of volunteers gather at the local farmers’ market, and other designated locations, where they prepare dozens of arrangements using donate...d flowers. Volunteers then make deliveries to hospitals, hospices, cancer centers and personal residences. In addition to abundant bouquets, flower recipients enjoy fresh-baked cookies, fine chocolates and cards handmade by school children. The mission of Flower Empower is to ensure the recipients know they are not alone, and their community cares. Our hope is that volunteers across the country will establish Flower Empower programs in their own communities, spreading hope across the nation one flower at a time. Thank you to the 2014 team of dedicated Flower Empower sponsors, volunteers, growers, cookie-bakers and chocolatiers, including B&H Flowers, Botanik, Tim and Diane Brown, Chocolats du CaliBressan, Arthur and Kate Coppola, Domingo Farms, Ever-Bloom, Florabundance, The Himovitz Family, Maximum Nursery, Myriad, Trader Joe’s, Valley Flowers Inc., Westerlay Orchids and Westland Floral. For more information please download our Flower Empower brochure, and for volunteer opportunities, contact Valerie Banks at (805) 564-2131, or e-mail her via our contact page. See more
