As part of Assistance League National ACTION! Week, Assistance League of Conejo Valley is conducting a Food Collection Drive-Through in support of Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank on Wednesday, February 24. Drop off your non-perishable food donation behind the Assistance League of Conejo Valley Thrift Shop at 2853 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. Thousand Oaks. From 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, we will remove bags of food from donors' trunks, no need to leave your car. ACTION! Week is celebrated every year by Assistance League in honor of its founder, Anne Banning. From Monday, February 22 through Friday, February 26, chapters across America will participate with projects in their local communities. Assistance League of Conejo Valley was the proud recipient of a recent grant from the Swift Memorial Health Care Foundation for the Vision for the Future and Eye Can See programs. This generous donation will provide a complete eye exam and new glasses for K-12 identified students attending Conejo Valley Unified Schools and for adults and seniors who lack vision care. Thanks to the Swift Memorial Foundation for their ongoing support!

Assistance League of Conejo Valley recently received a $5,000 grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation’s Good Neighbor Program. We will gratefully use this funding to support the Eye Can See program that provides free eye exams and eyeglasses to adults in need in the local communities of Simi Valley, the Conejo Valley and Moorpark. This grant will help to fulfill Assistance League of Conejo Valley’s mission to transform the lives of children and adults through its community programs. The Conejo Valley chapter of 100 Women Who Care recently donated $5,951 to Assistance League of Conejo Valley to support our vision programs that provide eye exams and eye glasses for children and adults. This chapter of 100 Women Who Care is one of 350 across the United States and beyond. Members of this organization gather quarterly to select a local charity to support and each individual donates $100 to fund this effort. Such donations provide not only financial assistance, but shed light on the work of the selected philanthropy, raising awareness of their programs. Started in 2012, #GivingTuesday has taken hold as a charitable counterpoint to the consumerism of the holiday season and feels even more pertinent this year given the devastating impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Assistance League of Conejo Valley has launched its fall Operation School Bell Clothing Shopping Program. Each qualified student from Conejo Valley, Simi Valley or Moorpark elementary schools may purchase up to $70 of school-appropriate clothing, which includes shoes, socks, underwear, jackets, sweaters, shirts, tops, jeans or pants from Burlington Coat Factory in Thousand Oaks. Providing students with new clothing for school can empower them with confidence and self-esteem so that they have the best chance to improve their academic performance. Assistance League of Conejo Valley volunteers were very pleased that they could support the My Stuff Bag Foundation from home at this time.
