Strengthening your Lung Qi This point at the wrist crease on the radial side of your wrist is a great spot to give some love to this weekend while we continue to endure the smoky skies. A beautiful point to boost your lung function, clear any congestion in the lungs and even support our collective grief process.... Pressing this point for 5 minutes a few times a day will give you a boost. You can use it on kids and adults. It’s a small space in between the radial artery and the abductor pollicis longus tendon.

WORK FROM HOME WOES Lots of people are complaining of neck and back pain these days due to new make shift office setups at home. Believe it or not, these three points are used for neck and back pain. We don’t have to even put needles in the area of discomfort for them to do their job. The nervous system is capable of sending clear messages from various points on our body to our brain!... Until you get acupuncture relief, don’t forget to stand up once an hour and stretch. And remember that heat is your friend. A rice bag or a hot water bottle can help loosen your muscles up. Try a standing desk or a ball to sit on. And remember to check your posture regularly and raise your chest up through your sternum if you have a tendency to hunch like me. #workfromhometips

When the world around us is going all wrong, we may still be able to find the wins. Another acupuncture client is pregnant and for this we jump for joy and hold hope for the tiny beings fighting to be a part of this world. Stay safe and have a restful weekend inside, dear ones. #pregnancyannouncement

Sending blessings to all beings today, to the trees, to the tiny critters, to the animals, to the homes and to the people who are affected by the fires in California. Sending love, peace, healing and energy to endure, rebuild and start again. Check out my stories for a nourishing lung tonic. #bayareafire #napa #bigbasin #pointreyes

In these uncertain times, many people are quietly suffering. If you are one of them, please reach out. Whether you are home alone, caring for a family, just had a baby, are living with chronic health conditions, or are surrounded by people and feeling alone, it’s okay to ask for help. Let people carry you and support you. You don’t have to go through it alone. When clients come to see me, I always want to know about their emotions. Everything is connected and we can help support depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, fear, worry, anger even if you’re just coming for knee pain. We are always working on the spirit level with acupuncture and reiki. There is no need to suffer alone.

EARLY PREGNANCY _ I don’t usually announce these but I might start! Two clients emailed with positive pregnancies yesterday. These are my favorite emails to receive and I’m sure they are my client’s favorite emails to send before their birth announcements, of course. _ The beginning of a pregnancy can be full of anxiety. You may feel tired, you may already be nauseous or you may have no symptoms whatsoever. All of these situations can cause anxiety. If you’ve experienced lo...ss or have tried everything and paid all you have and then some to have a baby, the anxiety can be very high. _ I love supporting women in this early period because they don’t get many doctor visits early on and if they aren’t doing fertility treatments, they often won’t see a doctor until they are 7-9 weeks pregnant. It’s so helpful for newly pregnant mamas to have that weekly support and acupuncturists can provide that compassionate care they need. _ We can help them get through these first weeks before they hear baby’s heartbeat. We can help them to be as strong as possible to hold the pregnancy. We can help them rest into the parasympathetic nervous system and ease the anxiety of not knowing. And we can support women as they make it to each and every pregnancy milestone along the way. _ @lalovenenoso See more

Got a cozy outdoor space and in need of some healing work? Backyard acupuncture is available with yours truly in Oakland, Piedmont, Berkeley and Alameda. I’ve been visiting some backyards of clients who aren’t quite ready to go to the office. It’s been such a treat for me to relax and enjoy being outside while clients rest and do the same. I love seeing my sweet clients and if I can give them care outside, I’m so happy to get to do so. (I’ll consider further out with an additional fee.) photo: @stylinbyaylin

ACUPUNCTURE point spotlight _ This amazing point is used often for promoting immune support because it helps to firm up the surface of our body against invading pathogens. _ We can also use this gem for boundaries when someone feels like they need help setting them or feels like they take on too much of other people’s energy. It’s such a great protection point energetically and literally. And we can also use this point for carpal tunnel, Mom’s arms/wrists, elbow pain, hip p...ain, digestive issues and palpitations (to name a few). _ The channel that this point lives on is called the San Jiao or Triple Burner channel. While all other regular channels are connected to the organs we already know, the San Jiao channel is unique. One of the main functions of this point is to regulate the water passages in our body, meaning to help the metabolism and circulation of fluid function optimally. _ The abdomen and the organ systems within it are categorized as upper, middle and lower jiaos. There are herbs specifically targeted to each jiao depending on the pattern that develops for a person. The upper jiao is above the diaphragm and includes our lungs and heart. The middle jiao houses our stomach and spleen and digestive function. The lower jiao holds our urogenital system. _ This is a simplified explanation. This point does so much for our qi and fluids. There is an endless amount of amazing information and theory from ancient Chinese scholars and doctors about how our bodies function and how to use acupuncture to help us heal. I’ll keep sharing. #acupuncture See more

BLACK LIVES MATTER My heart has been so heavy and angry for the recently uncovered tragedies and blatant racist attacks on the African American community in this country. This is not new. Things like this are happening every single day. Being Black in America is to feel unsafe and at risk everyday. Parents raising black sons live in fear everyday for their boys and men. I think of all the women I’ve supported to become mamas and raise Black sons and daughters. I send you so m...uch love and power right now. I send every single person feeling fear in this country love and healing. I know we experience this world differently. As someone who presents as white, I walk through this world with ease. Someday we all will and that will only happen if we all continue to bring these injustices and traumas to light. Even if that means bringing them down one by one, we can change this country. It starts with all of us. We have to stand together. We will fight til the end. What are you willing to do for your fellow humans? How uncomfortable are you willing to be to look at your own white privilege? Be safe tonight, Oakland and stand in power for the change that’s coming and all ready on its way. I’m here to be on the bottom of the pyramid to do my part to help support your rise. Standing with you for change. #blacklivesmatter #blacksons #racisminamerica Photo exclusively for @eastbayacupuncture by my talented friend and photographer, Mo Saito.
