I'm almost never oblivious, but I've definitely been guilty of the rest of these! . Having other people act the Pacifist towards me turned me into the Brute for a while at camps! I think I've grown out of that though... Of course, my major sin is being the Philosopher!!

A colleague of mine interviewed me on his podcast and we mostly ended up talking about aikido!

What have you done today to send good ki into the world? I tried to reassure my college students about their classes moving forward in a bunch of conferences.

If you're feeling sedentary and are affiliated with a school, I learned that Down Dog apps are free through July 2 with a .edu email address. Still won't make up for aikido, but yoga, HIIT, 7-min workouts, etc, will be a good complement to long walks as I try not to turn into a blob during out confinement!

Sadly, our classes will be suspended until further notice in accordance with the suggestion from Aikido Kokikai Federation. Below is the announcement from AKF: As you are all aware, the potential risks from the coronavirus pandemic in the United States caused Sensei to cancel Winter Camp. As these risks have continued to increase as feared, the AKF Board of Directors conferred and is strongly advising all members to suspend standard practice until such time as it is deemed sa...fe to resume. A basic tenet of the uke/nage relationship is the understanding we are responsible for the health and well-being of one another. Suspending standard practice is one of the most responsible actions we can take to help limit the exposure of this virus to our fellow students, friends and families, and the community in general. As for your individual practice, stay in touch with your dojo leader. I see this as an opportunity to practice meditation, breathing exercises and weapons kata at home. I'm considering cancelling classes now given recent social distancing recommendations. Will update soon. In the meantime, some beautiful thoughts from a Kokikai friend.
