Just walk... And keep walking... He leads and protects and I follow that lead and continue by his side. True fact, I haven’t loved my job in front of my chair as much as behind my chair in the past. This last year I have taken my role as owner and elevated my position and duties beyond any standard I have ever set before. Being a salon owner for 14 years now, I’ve been forced to embrace ownership duties to be as important as my role as a stylist. Learning and growing in my skill has only pushed me to do that much more in my leadership position in my 14 chair salon. Honestly I... have always been so intimidated by technology and resistant to change my systems and routine because of fear. I have over come that and decided to be a little more vulnerable and see just where a better functioning system could take us! I find myself setting the standards rather high for my team at @gentrysalon Without a doubt they have leveled up and grown so much through this pandemic. My position as the owner of my salon is not one where I consider myself the boss but a leader. For so many years I found myself choosing the responsibility to be a savior rather than having higher expectations and encouraging others to rise both individually and together as their leader. As I have shifted directions in the... industry, set firm standards, and lead by example, I have witnessed a group of women rise and grow together to form a force greater than I could have ever imagined. What I’ve learned over the past 14 years is, I don’t want to pull others along. Realizing for everyone to reach their goals shouldn’t be a struggle to encourage them but an excitement to push them. What feels safe? What is secure? What is constant? These are questions I’ve had to ask myself often these days. As fear and anxiety finds a way to creep in, I remember my answers and can overcome those feelings in a second. As we learned of another shutdown for our businesses again, a flood of emotions came over me and it was hard to not just be angry. There wasn’t a feeling of fear this time, just anger. I won’t understand because there is no logic to it but what good are ...we doing by complying with orders which have not proven to help the situation at all? But here we are again taking part in one political battle. Is that really what it is though? Or is it a battle of good vs. evil? I hate to break it to you, we’ve read the book (the Bible incase you were wondering) and know who wins in the end. You see, when you apply the word of God to our current lives, much of what we’re witnessing is biblical. It’s what we do with our knowledge that really matters. The Bible explains a very basic concept but for some it’s still hard to grasp. You don’t need to believe in God to understand the concept... When darkness is exposed to light, it can no longer be dark. Let that sit for a while. Now apply it to the evil of this world and let’s see how your life changes. This is us. Time out... taking a long weekend off is a bit stressful this time of year and more so in 2020. After the salon was closed for 14 weeks, the pressure to play catch-up has been more intense than ever. These beautiful people are who I miss when work is consuming all of me. A client once told me, Don’t forget, to every person you say yes to, it’s a no the the ones you love. There’s a trade off for everything. I’ve found this statement to be more true than ever and it is a con...stant struggle for balance and a healthier life. When I committed to shifting my career a year ago and focus on my craft, @naturalbeadedrowsextensions like everyone, I never could foresee the shut down of our world for months. I have invested so much into restructuring, rebranding, redirecting, education, and building my team, and I refuse to move backwards due to the lack of support for our industry. We made it through the first week of crazy October... I find myself constantly over booking this month and without fail every year say, I’m not going to do this next year! Well here I am packing and prepping for my @bms.naturalbeadedrows convention with @naturalbeadedrowsextensions One year in my academy has flown by and I can’t believe I’ve been doing NBR for almost a year now. Saying yes to my dreams has completely changed the dynamic of my business in so many ways. I h...ave stretched out of my comfort zone to work towards success and freedom in my career. As my guest @krstn83 is dominantly dark tones, her color variation is actually achieved with multiple lightening services. Her deep base color is maintained every 6 weeks. I use a color blocking technique to achieve the depth in her look. For the highlighted areas I remove color pigment with my trusted @f18hair lightener and glaze all day in the finishing process. Oh November I am ready for you. I’m sure like everyone else, I’m feeling the pressure and stress of the chaos we have all been living through.
