Leadership is intangible; therefore no weapon ever designed can replace it. -General Omar N. Bradley, USA @ University of California, Berkeley
Progress is most definitely being made in both marching and warrior knowledge by the enthusiastic Detachment 085 Cadets! @ University of California, Berkeley
Detachment 085 is excited to welcome back returning and new cadets to a fun and productive Spring 2020 semester! @ Berkeley, California
Last fall, our cadets had the opportunity to attend Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s annual ROTC Day. LLNL ROTC Day hosts about 100 cadets and midshipmen offering tours of its facilities and serves as a great networking event for summer internships.
#HumansofDet085 Featuring C/3C Guillermina Castro! Cadet Castro is a second year at Cal studying Legal Studies with a minor in Public Policy, and she hopes to pursue a career as a pilot or OSI officer! C/Castro is on Color Guard and is also active in Arnold Air Society! Her favorite thing about ROTC is, the people! I love being surrounded by people who all have different stories and backgrounds to share, but all have the same goal: to be an Air Force Officer. It’s very motivating being a part of this group and having the privilege to be instructed by the cadre who are very passionate about their jobs: it makes me want to perform at my best at all times.
For our last PT of the semester, our cadets competed in a Tri-Service physical fitness competition! It included basketball, volleyball, 100 yards swimming relay, and a strength competition which entailed the longest plank, longest wall sit, and max pull-up count. Our cadets victoriously won against Army ROTC and took home the Commander’s Cup! Congratulations to those who participated! ... We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday! Don’t forget to keep up with your PT, stay active on Strava, and we will see you all next semester!
Our annual Tri-Service ball was a great dining-out event where we recognized our commissioning POC! The dinner was also a great opportunity to meet other Berkeley Army ROTC cadets and Navy ROTC midshipmen. Here is the link to our Tri-Service Ball Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch... GO BEARS and GO AIR FORCE!
Happy Thanksgiving from Det 085! We hope everyone is enjoying their break to eat some pie and recharge before finals!
