Just making some flight test history today....
Just a reminder this is happening next weekend... This is your opportunity to hear stories you won't hear at the in-person event next year. And if you are across the country (or across the globe) - this is your chance to attend an exclusive event...for FREE.... You will hear directly from the pilots who flew the FIRST FLIGHT of both the X-32 and the X-35. What are you waiting for? Register today!
Edwards Air Force Base is aviation’s hallowed ground. Pioneers, inventors and record breakers have continued to make their way to the high desert and the unique weather and topography of the Antelope Valley since almost the dawn of flight. Our new sign was just added yesterday. Let's make this happen!
Very inspiring to see all of the Junior Test Pilot School missions and interviews this summer. Even though they couldn't meet in person - the students had opportunities to interact with some AMAZING flight test professionals.
Before and After ... Douglas F3D I couldn't remember where I took the original photo 9 years ago, but George Welsh from the Air Force Flight Test Museum pointed out it was at the museum's boneyard , & the aircraft has been restored since!
Prettiest sunrise we ever did see. Can’t wait to have all of you wandering that floor in the new museum. It’s happening! #thinkoutsidethegate
Since the 1930s, Edwards AFB has been the Center of the Aeronautical Universeresponsible for the experimental flight testing of more aircraft, and the setting of more important aviation records, than any other place in the world. Its story must be toldfuture flyers and engineers must have an inspirational home to remind them: Here is your Destiny. Curtis M. Bedke Maj Gen USAF (Ret)
It's been an exciting few days at Edwards Air Force Base. The dream of a new space for the Flight Test Museum is becoming a reality. You may just see concrete, but we can see wide-eyed students being inspired in our new STEM Center, aerospace professionals inspecting our inventory for lessons learned and retired pilots sharing stories with their grandchildren. We also see YOU, our dedicated supporters walking through the door for the first time. Help Flight Test Historical F...oundation finish Phase II of construction. DONATE NOW. We can't wait to welcome you to the new home of "The Right Stuff". #thinkoutsidethegate
