Kai Ruess is in New Orleans this week coaching the UC Hastings Moot Court team in the Tulane Sports Law Invitational. The competitors appear in a multiple of rounds in front of a series of judicial panels, making an appellate style argument. This year's competition focuses on whether a high school baseball player can be required to cut his hair without violating his due process and equal protection rights. The competitors are also arguing the merits of "the baseball rule" which limits liability for injuries caused by foul balls at baseball games. Kai also competed in three similar competitions while he was at Hastings and has remained involved in the program by coaching teams and mentoring current students. Hope it is a good week!
