Client location: Utah Time: 4 hours Task: same day purchase of 6 glass doors from IKEA, San Diego which is the only store location where specific glass door are still in stock, about 9 items left. Plan of action: Requesting shipping quotes from UPS and FEDEX to make sure client wants to proceed since shipment can be very expensive.. Ups and Fedex give me insane quotes, $670 just to ship 6 glass doors to Utah? Crazy...Client is fine with t...hat so we are proceeding.. Driving to Ikea, takes me about half hour to get there. In Ikea... Spent about 2 hours getting things done. Just charged my card about $500 for 6 glass doors. Now they need to pack it so it won't break before I will ship it. Bummer.. Each glass door is only packed in cardboard, Ikea does not do crating.. Calling on 6 different freight company to get a quote on shipment and crating of 6 glass door. Finally I found one willing to pack each glass door in wooden crates plus shipping plus insurance, total for $500.00 Not bad, I saved my client over $170, comparing to UPS quotes. I just scheduled home delivery with Ikea, that will deliver package directly to freight company. Client should be happy getting it in about a week, it's sooner than UPS! Task: ACCOMPLISHED.
