Happy Friday! We at ABOW would like to remind you that the election is just 4 days away. If you are voting by mail and still have your ballot, skip the mailbox and drop it off at your nearest polling location directly. With recent mail delays, this is the only way to ensure your mail-in ballot is received and counted. Get out there and exercise your right to vote! #abowsf

Next up in our trainer highlight series is Margaret Tappan! What classes do you teach? I am currently teaching private Pilates, Gyrotonic, and Gyrokinesis sessions both outdoors and via Zoom. In the fall, I will also be teaching courses online for ABOW's ITT PILATES program. For me, the silver lining from this pandemic is that it has opened up so many new possibilities for the ways that we can connect to one another, train our bodies, and even explore the geography of our cit...y. For example, I have discovered that I love training clients outdoors! How did you get started in the fitness field? I started studying Pilates when I was fifteen years old. It was a required class at the Houston Ballet Academy where I was studying to become a professional ballet dancer. I fell in love with the way these lessons helped me to strengthen and elongate my muscles as well as giving me greater control of my center. The Pilates system taught me how to take care of my body and especially how to prevent and respond to injuries. As my dance career was winding down, I discovered the Gyrotonic system and I fell in love with it instantly. The curiosity I felt at fifteen has turned into a life long exploration of the body in movement. I feel blessed to be able to continue this love as a trainer at A Body of Work. What’s your favorite part about working at ABOW? What I love about working at ABOW are my fellow trainers. They inspire me with their creativity and deep love of learning. We make a great team! I also love the location. To be able to work inside San Francisco's Presidio surrounded by so much natural beauty, fresh air, and light is just incredible. #abowsf

We have another trainer highlight! This week we have another ITT PILATES graduate, Cathy Berman. What classes do you teach? I teach the Pilates for Healthy Bones class on Tuesdays at noon over Zoom.... How did you get started in the fitness field? I got started teaching when my husband saw that all I did was movement and he sent me on a mission to find a training program that I would love. I found ITT PILATES and thats where it began. Then came Gyrotonic, Gyrokinesis, and Yoga. What’s your favorite part about working at ABOW? My favorite part of working at ABOW is the excellent camaraderie between all the trainers. I feel this spills over into the joy each one of us has when working with our clients. Register for one of Cathy’s classes today, link is in our bio! #abowsf
