This UT article speaks to some of the issues San Diego has faced regarding the housing shortage, but check out the full report (link in the comments). This report doesn't answer a lot of "why" questions, but it clearly illustrates that we have a problem that can no longer be ignored. You can see the HUGE drop off in housing construction in the graphic here.

More housing has been approved! Considering the location, these homes probably will be on the upper end of housing costs within the county, but some units will be reserved for low-income residents. Admittedly I do not have many details on this project - but on the surface, a new community with high density residential combined with office space and retail - seems like a great idea for San Diego. What do you think?

Even smaller than the shipping container homes! Interesting concept. I guess you wouldn't have to worry about your neighbors having loud parties, no room for guests. They do look pretty luxurious for a water pipe though!

Interesting debate here, although it's not really up for debate since this doesn't need legislative approval. While this obviously helps move CA forward in its quest for cleaner energy and cutting greenhouse gases, this is another regulation adding cost to home builders and ultimately home buyers. What do you all think?
